I have a 1998 Ranger That had a 2.5, I-4 With a 5peed Manual transmission. I have installed a 1997 Explorer 5.0 with a 4R70W Tramsmission. The Ranger doesn't have the wiring for the overdrive switch on the shift lever. What have others done to power up this switch / indicator light. The Explorer has a tan/white wire and a purple/orange wire, But I can't find this wiring on the Ranger Harness. Did the automatic and manual Rangers have different wiring Harnesses from the factory? thanks for any help.

I have a lighted toggle switch mounted on my dash, not in the truck today to see how it is wired. My truck is a 98, and donor stuff came from a 99 Exploder. It is a two position, switch to on and then back to off when not needed. It may be the weekend, before I can see how it is wired.

Tneff, thanks for the reply. I have the Explorer steering column in my ranger. I just don't have the wiring to hook to the switch and indicator light to. My Ranger was a 5 speed manual, so I don't have the wiring at the steering column. I need to know where to find the wires. I found a purple/orange and a tan/white wire in the wiring at the 42 pin connector, just not sure it is the wires I need to hook to. I only have the EVTM for the Explorer. Thanks
