The trans is gone in my ranger also the clutch has seen better days. Also has a oil leak, coolant leak and goes through u-joints like crazy. What do you think i should do? Fix all these problems or just buy a other truck and keep it for parts?

More info on the truck? 4x4? Miles?

Sounds kinda like mine, except my clutch and tranny are fine and the starter is toast. I'm scrappin it and putting the axles and suspension under a 1st Gen Explorer.

88 ford ranger 2.9 320+ miles 4x4 5spd

Where in Canada are you? If it's in south BC I'd sell you my tranny real cheap.. And give you the clutch with less than 5k miles, lol.

Do you know where the oil and coolant are leaking from? The valve covers are known to leak on 2.9s and aren't very difficult or expensive to fix. The coolant could be a cracked head unless you can see it leaking externally.

maple ridge about 15 min from the border. I think the leak is the rear main

You may be able to do the rear main with the motor in the truck, but not positive about that... You'd be right there if you drop the tranny though. If you're interested in mine, let me know.

It all comes down to if the truck suits your needs, or what you'd get to replace it. Would it be cheaper to fix, or buy another?
