Now that you mention work experience its funny I never seen septic pump guys run vicks or nose plugs or anything. Some don't even wear gloves.

Pump truck pulls up and guy opens the hatch
Me: "Wow that sh!t really stinks"
Septic guy: "smells like money to me"
Me: "You don't wear gloves or anything?"
Septic guy shrugs.

My old shop was next to a live poultry dealer, Id take dead body or raw sewage stink over that smell any day. That place was absolutely disgusting (and that's coming from me), how the guys who worked there still had noses is a mystery I will never understand.
