Old School 1986

Verrry clean! Glad it went to an owner who'll keep it up and respect it. Wish you many happy miles with this truck.

I haven't driven the '86 for about three weeks (vacation and then blocked into the driveway by another out-of-town-driver car), but she drove well today despite the mid-90s temps.

Went up to my favorite salvage yard on the way to do some other errands. Here's the truck section (there are some nice Fords hidden in there):

A couple of RBVs were there, including an '85 that had some nice, chrome bumpers (does the rear bumper on the Bronco II fit a Ranger?), but I didn't have time to investigate; maybe later on. There was a nice '88 Bronco II with a very straight body and a clean interior (good-looking bucket seats and deluxe door panels), but unfortunately, it was red, not blue. Finally there was a '66 F250 that seemed too nice to be in the salvage yard (352 V-8 was still there, but not the bed). Check out this beefy rear end!

Thats a nice 1st gren you have there:icon_thumby: It reminds me of my Grandfathers 86 but his was a 4x4 and that "burnt orange?" color. You seem to know your stuff about all Fords!:icon_thumby: A lot of your pics look like they come from the sales brochures. Speaking of that do you know where I could find a brochure for an 02 F-150? I have looked everwhere and even online and have came up w/ nothing. Good looking truck again!!!:icon_thumby:

Thanks for your comments; try this link that will give you your '02 F-150 brochure as a PDF (it's even free); lots of other ones there, too, including Rangers back to 2002.

was that u pull n pay off of colfax? i go there alot lol

No, it's Western Auto Salvage at 61st and Federal. I like to go up there on a nice day and see what they have.

Took a trip down to the Oakland Ranch in Douglas County today (memorial picnic).

I like this angle and the way it makes the bed look about a block long. Don't drive off the one-lane bridge into the creek . . .

My A/C compressor problem seems to have gone away after I took care of the overcharged situation. I have no idea how that extra R-12 got out. :icon_idea:

i like the truck...

on page 1-- that dash looks great. i wish mine looked that clean. mine is all busted up. i have one ready to go in tho..

i didn't read it all. just page 1 and 7.. lol.

IMO, the black bumpers look better

I should have gotten some pictures of the Ranger I saw parked down at the picnic area: '87 XLT 2WD longbed, 2.3 4-cylinder, 5-speed, A/C, stereo cassette (even had the speakers in those weird little enclosures behind the seat); Medium Silver Metallic with Bright Regatta Blue Metallic on the lower body (red/gray tape strip in between), blue cloth interior. Besides the sketchy silver paint, it looked very clean and totally original (65K miles showing on the odometer). As it belonged to the gentleman who passed away, I hope somebody rescues it and puts it back on the road.

Good news today: I passed my emission test. :icon_bounceblue: I had some trouble two years ago, mainly because it hadn't warmed up enough, but this time I gave her a fresh tuneup, a half tank of premium gas, drove on the freeway for 10 miles and left the building while she was on the treadmill (I hate watching anyone driving my vehicle).

My scores: HC: 2.8468 (4.0 is the limit); CO: 29.1791 (40.0 is the limit); NOx: 2.9820 (6.0 is the limit).

Congrats on passing emissions, your truck still looks as good as the day you bought it. Havn't been this thread in forever, glad to see you left it stock it's like a time machine.
