This was my very first vehicle. I drove it all through highschool in stock form. I sold the truck about five years ago and I bought it back this summer. It had been sitting in a farmers field and it was in pretty rough shape. I do alot of fabrication and custom work so I decided Id build it they way I always wanted to. It now has a sterling ten and a half rearend, closed knuckle 44 front, 302, c6 tanny, and a 205 transfercase.

seems like it needs more bed

good start though:icon_thumby:

Its not done.. Ill have more pics with the bed done. This was just its first ride outa the shop. I shortened the wheel base quite a bit. Its not intended to have a bed to haul stuff, its just a crawler.

its my kind of ride:icon_thumby:

wheel base is a bit short for me though, running 42's with stock wb and just bobbing the back works out good for the ones i seen done that way.

stockish wb i should say. run the axles forward on the frame and stay 120-125 ish with tall tires, over 40 in.

i know i had some problems today in the deeper snow on a stout grade attempting to extract some rigs. i think a shorter wheelbase actually would have helped in this case.

but i dont have lockers, and it got me into trouble again today.

looking forward to your progress:icon_cheers:

I moved the rear axle about 10in foward and the front about 5in foward. I think im sittin right around 120.

any build pic and specs :icon_welder: and is that keg your gas tank?:icon_cheers:

Yes the keg is the gas tank. I used fuel cell top off a sprint car. I made a 3/8 steelbacking plate that I cut to match on the mill. It has a gasket and bolts through the keg.

Heres a pic I took after doing the 3in body to fit the new motor and tranny.
