The stickers of many edge models read "D" which refers to the 5r55e.

I don't have a sticker (repainted). The tech Library states that the 3.0 has the 5r44e.

Which is it? Is it possible that the edge/tremor package has the 4.0 transmission (5r55e)? I have 4x4 ride height and options, just no 4x4 or 4.0.

Anyone shed some light?

If you PM me your VIN I will get you a complete as built list with your trans, rear end, and gears.

3.0 = 5r44e

Only 4.0s got the 5r55e

many of us have a "D" under TR (transmission) on the door sticker, which is the 5r55e. I bet the edge/tremor models have the upgraded transmission?

I will look at my sticker, read 3 or 4 guys who have "D" which corresponds to the 5r55e

My code is D, and after flushing the transmission I can confirm that it is, indeed the 5r55e that is typically found in the 4.0 liter.

They all look almost identical.

2.3 is 4R44E , 3.0 is 5R44E and 4.0 is 5R55E.

has code "D" on door, and has pan for 5r55e, and 5r55e on the transmission.

I think the edge series retains 4.0 parts with no 4.0 much like the SXT charger holds all RT parts except for the hemi engine.

My old 2002 Edge had a 3.0 with the 5r55E, I still have the window sticker and I'm looking at it right now. It says it was a $1000 option but It also say Edge plus group below it.

Ford's website says 5R55E also

I ran my VIN on Ford/Motorcraft's website www.fordparts.com and it comes up saying the my 2004 Edge 3.0 does have the 5R55E also.

Yup so maybe the edge package holds the 4wd 4.0 looks and suspension, and transmission.
