Should I remove the engine or not it is on a 2000 2 wheel drive 3.0 automatic/air there is a leak near the water pump or timing cove area.
 
No, in that area I would suspect front main seal, behind crank pulley.

If it is leaking alot then that's it, main seals are pressure seals so get a good drip going.
Oil pan gaskets are gravity leaks so drip now and then from internal blow-by pressure and splashing oil.

Pull out the radiator, it will make it much easier to pull off the pulley/balancer, once you are there you should be able to ID exactly where it is leaking.
