The other day i while i was waiting at a stop light, a warning light i have never seen before came on, and then went out when I started to move. It was below the volt meter and oil pressure gauge, and looked like the gas pump symbol with three lines next to it. I had a half tank of gas, and everything else seemed to be working just fine. I looked in my owner manual, and it doesn't even show that it exists. Same deal with the haynes and chiltons manuals I have. I swear I'm not going crazy, because I can kind of see it when looking at the right angle. I've never noticed it before, and it hasn't come back on since. Anyone know what it is?

I had the same light come on last summer on my 98, and nobody knew what it could be. I asked on several forums about it. Had never come on before and has not since. Some thought it might be a water in the fuel sensor.

It may be the light that comes on when your gas cap isn't tight enough or the gas cap is bad.

If you go to fleet.ford.com. You can view owners manuals of all vehicles. May poke around there under maybe the super duty truck or something and see if they have a light similar in their dashes...

the thing is, my filler neck had been rusted out until i swapped my bed, so if it had that light it would have been on nonstop

But from what you have explained that is the only thing it could be unless you have a low fuel sensor. Which I don't think are factory equipment for that year.

I think when ur gas cap gets screwed up, thereis a light that comes on and i believe it is spelled just like this "Check Gage", can't remember, but my 01 ranger had that light come on and stay on until i got rid of it.
