Yeah buddy represent that Island Art you defiantly should go Diesel and do dual totem poles in the bed as the smoke stacks!

This does need a diesel, however it does not need stacks!

My guess is he'll sort out the rearsteer before he goes diesel, just a hunch.

haha yeah...I hate stacks normally but since hes doing the First Nation art the totem pole stacks would fit in and would be pretty cool.

uhhh...no,i don't think it would.

i could go into the levels on which this could cause problems, but i don't feel like it.

so,i'll show some color samples.

now that's a bit of a stretch...

this is the panel i made for testing colors while mixing the blue.arriving at the color i did wasn't quite as random as i'd led on.
anyway, the three stripes that barely show are the colors i'm useing for the design.i have at the top green pearl in a blueish binder, the middle one is a blue flake in the same binder, and the bottom is a copper pearl in a clear binder.(binder is the 'meat' of the paint, usually a clear or tinted material that the various pigments, flakes, and pearls are added to to make the final color)

as you can see,the design will be somewhat 'ghosted' over the foundation color, but being pearls will shine out when in direct sunlight.i like the subtlty of doing graphics in this fashion.

now that's a bit of a stretch...

while i was playing around with paint i noticed the taillights were looking pretty beat up.
this is fairly easy to fix up,just sand them smooth with some 320 grit and clearcoat them and they look better than new.as an extra touch i added some copper pearl to the clear...this doesn't show in the photo, but adds a nice glint to them in the light.

i'm pretty certain this will be the case as well.the only way i can see a diesel going in is if i already have one hanging around when the engine goes bad.even then, this truck needs to stay in service all the time, and i have several 351s hanging around,so if the engine does calf a direct replacement will result in the least down time.

not looking too good for the rattler.

figured with all this talk of pearls and flakes i should clarify some things for those not familliar with these processes.

now that's a bit of a stretch...

these are some of my pearls and flakes.as you can see, they are in the form of a powder that is added to paint or clearcoat in various amounts depending on the desired effect.

they aren't cheap...each of these little tubs is in the $100+ range, but they go a long way.pearls work on refractive properties, flakes work on reflective properties.

now that's a bit of a stretch...

this is one of the binders that i add these powders to in order to get the effect that i'm looking for.once everything is cleared and polished the effect can be quite stunning in direct sunlight.

I'm glad you like giving your knowledge. Keep it up,
