Not Another CTOR Build

I am installing an aussie in my 77 F150 D44 #14430 and my clearance to the cross shaft is to tight. My thrust washers measure .029" on both sides. And my carrier is new (3.92+ carrier). I called the dealer and the thrust washers are now obsolete. I called a local 4wd speciality shop and was told they did not make different thickness washers so their no thinner washers available. Anybody got any idea where i could pick-up a pair of thrust washers or what i can do to remedy my problem?

Are you asking where to buy an aftermarket axle shim kit? They are pretty easy to find online. I had to purchase one too to get the right clearances for my old Aussie locker.

actually i have checked a few places and in short of buying an entire kit for the whole axle. I can't just find the thrust washers.

Put my tcase back in, rear driveshaft back on. Measured the front driveshaft and fallen short on any shaft i have here. Not to mention my trans crossmember is in the way as well. So i am gonna need to build one now. Also tore down the front diff again and got the carrier out. I hope to see my aussie tomorrow so i can install it. I am thinking i Might be able to get it out of the garage this weekend and test flex to figure out shock mounting up front.

The pipe they make the RBV front shafts from is easy to find at any steel place. I've got 1/2 a stick of it just in case I trash mine. RB

I believe with an 8.8 you can use carrier shims as thrust washers. Maybe the same is true for a D44.

i was just gonna suggest... take them to a machine shop and use a surface grinder. looks like you found that out already! lookin good...

lookin great.. you happy with how the leaves are performing?

oh and half doors in the making too huh?

i need to mount my shocks and do something different with my pitman arm. The pitman arm hits the drag link on compression on the Left side. Springs seem fine, i might add a full length spring just to piggy back the main leaf for strength. Alot of people running the same style set-up have problems bending the main leaf.

yeah i cant suggest it enough....i already wrecked some.
