(Not an RBV) My Dakota.

Dang! A turbo V8 in a Dakota! That thing outta move pretty good! This is one heck of a lot more interesting than my winter project of reviving / rebuilding an old 2.9 ranger of my brother's that's been sitting dead for 2 years due to a lack of oil pressure.

Are you just running the stock cast pistons for now or yanking the motor to install forged? And how much boost are you planning?

Are we taking bets yet as to whether the rear end or tranny will blow up first?

Can't wait to see a video of this thing! Keep the progress coming.

Stock internals, may do the head gaskets... There's a lot of people boosting these magnums on stock internals, as long as the tune is good they seem to hold up well. One guy is running 10s in his 5.9 turbo Dakota on a stock bottom end.. Planning around 5PSI

Rear end should hold up fine, tranny might be a different story but a few people have had NV3500s behind 408 strokers that hold up fine. If it blows I'll make it 2wd and go with a TKO-500.

So your thread just got me started doing a little research on the Mopar engines and it seems that the 318's bore size is within a few thousanths of the ford 4.0.... This gives me forged pistons (on the cheap for the 4.0) ideas......

No update but a Picture from camping this weekend. Mt St Helens.
