Nor Cal chat thread

Long story short I had the turbo off, and plugged the intake and whatnot, but I missed plugging the oil drain-back tube from the turbo, and it got water in the engine. It was never run that way though, and I put a wrench on the crank and it turns over still just fine. Other than that nothing

How long did it set with water in it? Did it go into the cylinders or into the case?

Possibly a long time (almost a year), but we really didn't get any rain in that time, so it's much more likely it was in the month before I pulled it out of storage because we got time of rain in that time. I also washed it right after I pulled it out, so possibly i got the water in it then.
Oil pan not cylinders

I think it's worth a bunch to part out, but I don't have time because I'm at school here in Idaho

How much are you looking to get for it?

Ok if you've still got it at the end of next month I'll hit you up. I just started working again so I'm broke right now. I want it just don't have money.

Hey sorry I've been crazy busy. Got your pm and my dad should be sending me some pictures soon

Eh that dude turned into a douche bag. He was looking to buy some off road lights I offered him my kragen lights for 100 bucks and he low balled me and then started talking mad shit. He would probably do the same with you.

Yeah still conducting trains. I live in meadow vista now. Working out of the roseville yard.

How do you like it? Are you making decent money? Is the work consistent?

I'm trying to figure out what to do with my life. I'm burnt out on welding and fab work....that's part of why I haven't touched my truck in two years. I don't want to be doing this shit in 5 years, hell I don't want to be doing it tomorrow. I'm not making any money, and being broke all the time fuking blows.

I guess I have a cousin who works out of the Stockton yard as a conductor and he's pulling 15K a month. When I heard that I brushed it off as bullshit, but can you really make that kind of money with the railroad?

I'm gonna say that's a lie. That's almost 200k a year... you kinda missed a good window in 13 and 14 to hire out. I mean you should keep your eyes peeled for another hiring session to get a number in line but starting wages will be around 45-50k I'm at a point now where I can make over 6k a month but it means being gone a lot. The top paying conductor jobs make around 9k a month but that's a ways out from me. It's bumpy getting started. The guys that just finished school are getting furloughed right now but if you have something to fall back on till work picks up then it's awesome. It's easy money minus the schedule. It's a bit tricky to learn all the rules but it's totally doable. Any rr job is good. Keep looking at the hiring page and apply for anything and everything. Hit me up if you have any questions.

Ok so update for tom. I worked my face off this month and worked everyday and a ton of overtime. So far I'm at just under 5k for the 2 week pay period. I could possibly hit 6k but no way I could hit more and working like this isn't sustainable. So definitely no way to hit 15k. I could get pretty close tho!

Moon rocks trip next weekend. Anyone interested?
