Noob question: About to buy wheels and tires. Do they fit?

Hi all,

I have found a listing for 5 Jeep aluminium mag wheels off of a Jeep YJ with 5x4 1/2 lug pattern. I am looking to put these on my 03 Ranger Edge 4x4. I read the sticky thread, so I believe that that the tires will work (31x10.50x15) without rubbing.

My concern is that I don't know if these 15" wheels will work on my Ranger (factory wheels are 16").
I appreciate any assistance you can give on this, since I don't want to drop $250 on wheels/tires that I won't be able to use.

Keep in mind that the Level II's came with 31x10.5x15, so the tires rubbing is a non-issue. The Jeep wheels should fit fine. I think the only issue that would prevent them from fitting would be the hubs. but your truck doesn't have hubs. You should be good to go, but I'd let others chime in first. I don't want to have to owe you $250.

i had an issue once where i got 15" wheels and the original wheels were 16". they didn't clear the disc brakes. had to sell them and go back to the 16's. just check them out real good first and make sure they will work for you.

Most 15" rims will fit a Ranger originally equipped with 16's. The thing with OE Jeep wheels is that the offset is different with more backspacing and the tire/wheel will be tucked in closer to the body, so even though they physically bolt up 1) depending on the tire size they may rub on the inside and 2) IMHO a narrower stance doesn't look all that good.

Yes and yes. A lot of people use spacers (especially Sport Trac owners for the rear ) but personally I'm not a fan. They may not pass state inspection in all states either.

Well, as it happens, those wheels and tires sold yesterday, so the hunt continues.

Thanks for the advice. Hopefully a set off a Level II will fall in my lap because someone wants to upgrade.

Not a bad idea; I will try that. I am hoping to get a hit off the local craigslist, tho, as I am trying to avoid paying for shipping.
