i was driving my ranger yesterday (offroad) and noticed that the brakes started to get further and further to the floor until there were none at all, pumping doent help. i checked the fluid and there is still plenty. the only thing i noticed was that the abs modulator (i think thats what it is, is sort of looks like a ac pump) has 5-6 wires that plug into it. the modulator was bouncing around when i was off road and all but 2 of the wires were cut from bouncing around. could the wiring be an issue? of could it be a booster problem, the booster doesnt seem to be leaking it doesnt affect the engine idle when i push it to the floor or anything

It is my understanding that if the abs module fails the system reverts to a standard power braking system. (and the little light comes on). But you retain brakes.

If the booster was busted I believe the brakes would simple be a non powered brake and feel rock hard. but will still stop the truck with some muscle.

I would hazard to guess you have a big hole in the brake lines somewhere and it simply hasn't emptied the reservoir yet.

Alternately. You may have sucked a ton of air into the lines somehow.

so sounds like its not the booster or modulator, im thinking its the master cylinder. i dont think its a leak, at first i thought it was because of the feel the pedal was giving me, a little travel, a little more travel, a little more travel, all the way to the bottom ,and then nothing. when i finally coasted to a stop i first off checked the fluid level and it was still full. getting a bunch of air in the line may not be too far fetched because my truck is a prerunner and i was jumping it and hitting whoops :icon_bounceblue: but i would think it would take a lot of air and probably would probably still work a little bit.
