Nissan Titan, now with a v8 Cummins!?!

I've heard the ecoboost doesn't do well when towing. And I'd still go diesel if I was hauling anything.

They still get gas V8 like milage but they tow pretty good from what I have heard. I have a friend that has one, he pulls his fifth wheel camper and boat all over with it (boat hooked to back of camper) He has to be way over his GVW but he says it pulls it great, better than any of his 5.4's did.

Since my 2V 5.4 pulls everything I need to with ease I would rate that as towing pretty good. I don't tow often but I do, just isn't frequent enough to justify the expences and liability of a diesel. Personally something would have to happen to my truck before I would ever be on the market anyway. It is far cheaper to just buy fuel than a payment and fuel.

Milage while towing could be better but then it always could be. Even then newer diesel 3/4 tons are not that much better. I think since you can already get a base 3/4 ton diesel for about the same $$ as a loaded F-150 with a big engine now adding a much more expensive diesel is going to be a really hard sell.

I really don't like all the emissions crap that new diesels are saddled with, it is hidiously expensive to repair that stuff when it screws up.

The emissions controls being added are a big killer for newer diesels. On my VW they are going away when the dpf dies.

Not many DPF's are being replaced when they go bad around here. They limp home and the next time it comes in it has a delete kit.

Considering the delete kit costs less than the replacement its an easy decision for most people.

The Rat is essentially the same truck. When I had it up in the air, fixing stuff, I noticed beach sand. I started tapping the LF fender flare. I half filled a shopping bag before I got tired of banging. :D

The 5.0 v8 is more compact/lighter than the straight 6's. Plus, it revs higher, and should return better fuel economy than the inline engines in the Rams, but they're designed for different workloads too. Not competing directly with each other.
The new Ram 1500 diesel would be competing with this Titan though, and it's performance numbers are well under the Cummins v8. We'll have to see how the fuel economy numbers work out between the two.
