Nissan Frontier rack on a 98

so i was passing the junkyard near my house and i saw a frontier wrecked in the front end. it got me thinking about the factory rack they have. i was wondering if anyone had ever put one on an extended cab ranger. i have a rollbar so i was thinking it could extend back and be connected to the rollbar. any imput or advice would be appreciated.

you can modify anything pretty much to fit anything.....

my first real concern would be the mounting area of the forward "legs"....as in if the Frontier cab is flat or curved where the "feet" are....and where they would meet the Ranger cab....

I would think that it could look pretty good....just depends on what the JY wants for it in the event it doesn't work out....

im gonna try to stop by soon and see what they want for it and get some measurments, i was thinking like 50$ tops, more than that and i'll forget it, but im pretty sure theres like 3 in that particular yard.

The pick n pull here charges either $15 or $25 for a rack

Cant remember what the Fronteir rack looks like but wonder if can be taken apart and cut down to fit the Ranger's roof.

I wouldn't attach it to the roll bar, as the bed moves separately from the cab, and I'd think that would cause the rack to rip free from where you would have it attached to the cab.

I stopped and measured this morning, it would be a few inches too long, but the rack I measured was on a king cab, I guess I need to find a regular extended cab truck?

I already bought one a few years ago. I got one on Ebay slightly used (complete with mounting kit). I paid about $100 with shipping for it. I did the measurements and then cut the rack down in the middle area about 4 3/4 inches and tacked it back together and then mock mounted it. It was still just a bit too long (would have worked but I wanted it shorter). I trimmed some more off of it and mock fitted it again. The mount feet were perfectly flat and this worked out very well. I then welded it back together and cleaned up the welds and painted it a satin silver Finnish. I then marked the holes in the roof with a paint marker and then changed my mind. I kept thinking about ...what if the holes cause a leak? What if I drill just a bit too deep with a headliner being used? I never did put it on. I sold it to a guy with a tintop Samurai and he bolted it on. He did not care all that much about drilling holes sine he has no headliner as we do. So he was happy with it. It fit on his (just stuck out back about 2 1/4 inches too far for my taste but this is what he wanted.

Yeah. I figure if I find a rack I will remove the headliner when drilling the holes, touch up the holes with some paint then seal them up before putting the headliner back on. But still a little leary in drilling holes in the roof. Will see.

it can be done.. its easy. i'll be doing one on mine soon, but not from a frontier
