i just got my new ranger last tuesday and it got smashed today, the whole ext cab portion on the pass. side is caved in and the bed is all cracked up, its a fiberglass step side bed. and i went to get a couple estimates today and there all around 4100-4200 i was wondering if anyone knows if they will total it out? i will get some pictures up tomorrow when i can see i kinda may have found a replacement truck, but the one i have is really nice and has been taken care of :bawling:

1999 ranger ext cab 4x4, 4.0 flareside, auto, a/c, no power windows, mirrors or locks.. but the previous owner had all the fluids, hoses and belts changed a year ago, just did oil change when i picked it up, i did a fuel filter, air filter and plugs in it, and was almost going to buy a wireset, but i will wait now to see what they do. it has 109200 miles on it

edit. the 4x4 motor looks pretty new

Them totaling it is based on a % of damage to the vehicles value. I don't remember what it is exactly but that's what I think they do

just checked retail value on kbb and it says $7040 so its over half.. but i dont remember what the percentage is, and i guess its also up to the insurance adjuster who comes out and looks at it. i was told someone would because of the damage value.

that sucks ur ranger got hit, looked like it was a nice one
(by the way, you said those pics are from ur camera phone? ive never seen camera phone pics that perfectly clear lol)

Is the frame damaged? I'd ask a shop or two to check that out....

Does the passenger side door open and close ok?

Was there any other damage?

If it was my truck an the frame was ok, I'd get a replacement bedside an fix that myself and run it. Fixing the cab is what sucks up time an money for the repair, but if everything still works, it's only cosmetic.

yep pics are from a lg vx8600. they were taken while getting an estimate, and ironically her car was at one of the dealerships i went to.. you can see my truck in the background :) i just want it to be fixed right.. the bed support for the stepside is crunched.. but no frame damage. door opens fine it did break the lower seam at the bottom of the door. if you know where im talking about.

Heh, if it was me then, if insurance told me it would total it to fix it, I'd tell them to fix the bedside and let me keep a clean title.

That sucks about your truck. If you get into fixing it yourself I have this...

Hard to believe thats 4200 bucks of damage. It hardly looks hurt- her car is a damn mess! These rangers are tough sombitches.
