New tools you've bought recently?

Just bought a cheap (25 bucks) 18" Olympia (Crescent style) adjustable wrench with a 1-1/2" max jaw opening off Amazon.

I've got plumbing to do and even though I have combination wrenches from 1/8" through 2" and metrics as well, there just never seems to be one the correct size for danged plumbing fixtures. Yes, and my vintage 8" Crescent wrench will not open wide enough either.View attachment 104442

There are times one just can't beat an adjustable-jaw hammer to get the job done.

For stuff like that I tend to just look for a used one on eBay.
You can generally get some used made in USA stuff for fairly cheap.
I know the quality doesn’t matter when you only plan on using something 4 times the rest of your life, but why throw money at the Chinese when you don’t have to.

I decided I wanted more C Clamps a few months back. I found a lot of 7 camps on eBay, all made in USA, for like $35. Pretty close to the cost of one new Chinese one.

Like Roert42, I always check for quality tools on ebucks before I buy - like Snap On, OTC, Mac Tools and the like but could not find a true 18" Crescent wrench.

I needed a 1-5/16 socket a bit ago, was cheaper to buy a like new snapon socket on ebay than a brand new Chinese one locally, I ordered the snap on

Flea markets, too. Sometimes some real good deals if you know what you’re looking for.

Auctions and estate sales are usually options too. I ended up dropping like $200 at an auction for two shelves of sockets. I ended up with a 3/4” drive set and over two 5-gal buckets of sockets and they range all the way up to something like 2-1/2”. Most are 1/2” or 3/4” drive, but there’s also a handful of 1” drive along with impact rated adapters and extensions. I would have probably dropped that much on just the 3/4” drive set or a half dozen of the bigger sockets. They range from Snap-on to Harbor Freight to no-name stuff, but still a deal and I’ve put them to use.

wanted it mostly for the disks, the edges are almost 1/2" thick, and are reduced to about 5/16" thick before the center part,
should be good enough unless I get carried away with a slide hammer.
holes are slightly larger than 3/4". bolts are coarse thread, will be replaced with fine thread.
it's all steel.

Working on the camper I'll need a roller to help get the side smooth, I have a little wallpaper roller but floor rollers aren't too expensive, $28 and it'll be here tomorrow...

While I'm here, here's the anti wobble feature I added to the grinder pedestal for my shop, was tired of it moving around so it needed some preload... I forgot to transfer the pic of how I drilled that cross hole in the post, I clamped the WHOLE THING in the drillpress vise with the grinder out sideways, was silly looking , wanted to use the drill press not a hand drill...

Not a new tool... but repairing my old radiator tester. I went to use this awhile ago... no joy. It wouldn't pump air even after oiling it.

The leather pump cup appeared to be unavailable for my Stant ST255 pressure tester. I took a chance with a Motorad part listed for another manufacturers tool. It fit the Stant tool perfectly. Works as it should now.

Man.. I'm disappointed with one of my new tools. Bought one of those fluid transfer pumps from harbor freight.. the big soap bottle hand pump kind.. says it fits most quart AND gallon size containers..

..not any of the quart or gallon bottles I had when I needed it though -__- and made the usual big ol mess. Thing also says it transfers 1oz per pump.. but a quart took MUCH more than 32 pumps..

Now in the market for one that actually works lol.

I bought some epoxy resin from a new supplier. I like to buy the pump handle sets so it makes measurement easy - for 3:1 the resin pump is 3x larger than the hardener for example. I only needed a small amount so I bought a quart of resin, which came with the requisite 1/3 quart of hardener, and I bought the pump kit. Well the pump kit won't fit in their hardener jug even after cutting as much plastic off the bottom as I could without setting the check ball free. Lame. Next time I guess I'll just step up to 1/2 gallon.

We'll see if I get to taking pictures when I get out to the shop here shortly but I went to a bankruptcy auction today at a farm and used restraint but still managed to spend $70, but with that I got (but not limited to because I will likely miss some things in the list):

-solvent tank, used HFT all red so newish but gross but for $25 can't complain...
-one of those quart sprayers for brake clean or whatever that you add compressed air to, I think $15, full of Acetone already
-~20 pound sledge with steel pipe for a handle with some padded tape $5
-Some random handled implements like push brooms and stuff, was a small barrel with some leftovers for $5
-3 of those cheezy cast aluminum camper leveling jack stand things

The rest was just odds and ends for the most part like some 2" ratchet straps, some breakers, big bar of rogue and stuff...
