Hey folks, I have never had to deal with shocks before and I don't know much about them. Mine are leaking and need to be replaced and I was wondering what specific shock would be the right choice for me. My 99 XLT is just your average daily driver weekend wheeler so I was wondering what would be the best idea for shocks. I have a 2" shackle lift and torsion bar crank that I plan on doing before I replace the shocks as well. How do I determine what size shock I need, too? Thanks :icon_twisted:

i just ordered a set of skyjackers from ebay, i just typed ford ranger shocks. i went with the 0-2 inch lift which is prolly what you should do, i only paid like 125 for a set of four!

I can get more lift via shocks with IFS suspension? say an inch because the front is a bit lower then the rear, stock. Along with the torsion bar crank.

Shocks won't lift the truck any. A t bar crank can bring it up an inch or 2

yea, im doing a t-bar crank, ordering shocks for the standard ranger will be fine though, right?

may it be rancho, etc.

I had the same mods on my previous Sport Trac, I put Monroe Sensa Tracs on it and they were fine. If you want something a little stiffer get Monroe Relflexes. A TT/shackle lift isn't enough to require longer shocks.

Good deal, thanks, that answers my question.

Actually, some high pressure shocks like Bilstein can lift a vehicle slightly. Usually no more than a half inch but they can lift.
