New Ohio laws

Some of the new Chryslers have an option to automatically turn the headlights with the wipers on. I noticed it at work trying to reset the oil change light.

Ummmm..........

As for getting killed because they wore a seatbelt, the stats don't lie. More people die because they didn't have it on than because they did. And it's not even close.
=================================================
BS!!! The ONLY stats they publicize are the ones that support the BS law!

It should be a CHOICE, not a law! I personally, if I had worn the stupid thing in my 1st accident, would of been fatally injured by it, and wouldn't of been around for the 2nd accident a year later, none of the 5 people in the car wearin or hurt in a 65mph dead hit...........of coarse, both were in real metal cars (67 & 70 Chevelle's)...........an my FIL fiancee' was killed in OHIO by a drunk driver that T-boned the car she was ridin in, she WAS wearin her seatbelt, and she was busted up...........paramedics said if she hadn't been wearin the seatbelt, she would of been knocked across the car & hurt, but more than likely alive.

So there's 3 FACT statistics for ya.........as I said, it should be a CHOICE, you have your thoughts & experiences, and I have mine..........I shouldn't be forced to believe only yours!:dunno:

And just to add to my previous post, I DO wear my seat belt, do not feel I should "have" to though. Honestly I never wore mine up until a few years ago when I found out that my insurance pays DOUBLE if I do die in an accident with my belt on.

You have done nothing to explain how NOT wearing a belt benefited you in those 2 accidents. And getting t-boned is another story. If you're getting hit in area where there's no protection other than the door, you're going to be in rough shape either way. Since when is getting "knocked across the car" a GOOD thing??? So your whole basis for saying seatbelts are "stupid" and "BS" is what ONE paramedic said after ONE accident? Alrighty!

And just to add to my previous post, I DO wear my seat belt, do not feel I should "have" to though. Honestly I never wore mine up until a few years ago when I found out that my insurance pays DOUBLE if I do die in an accident with my belt on.

So the only reason you wear it is has nothing whatsoever to do saving your life, rather that your family will get more cash if you die? Do you call that logic?

2 head-on based accidents...........by GOD's GRACE & me not wearin a seatbelt, I'm still walkin around! ONLY time I put it on, is if I'm bein stopped, saves me the idiotic $25 ticket to support your law...

NO..............3 accidents!

Gettin knocked across the car and ALIVE or strapped in crushed and DEAD! That's a NO BRAINER!

You have yet to explain yourself as to why you push wearin em???

FFT:
A 8 month pregnant woman not wearin her seatbelt is stopped & givin a ticket for the "illegal" act that could possibly kill her in an accident, then continues drivin to the Abortion Clinic for the abortion of the 8 month old fetus, which is "legal" to kill...................but if I T-bone her & kill the unborn baby, I can be charged with murder......HMMMMM very logical, isn't it?

on the whole seat belt thing , my best friend responded to an accident in his fire district , there was one DOA , it was his cousin. His cousin had been wearing his seat belt when he and his girlfriend hit a tree after they slid off the road at 50 mph , his cousin died because the seatbelt was not adjustable and wound up cutting his throat.

If you get hit in your door inertia will you pin against the door until the offending vehicle quits pushing you, at which point if you are not wedged in the door you may fly to the other side of the vehicle depending on how hard the hit was, but for the worst part of it you be stuck there belted in or not. If you get hit in the other side you will mostly stay where you are relative to the road while the other side of the car rushes over to greet you, as opposed moving with your seat and waiting for the car to crush far enough to touch you.

Head on crash, thru the windshield you go...

Simple physics, human pinball doesn't sound all that fun to me :icon_confused:

FWI, seat belts are not required in cars that didn't come with them in my state, so your old Chevelles would have probably been exempt from the law anyway.

I'm not trying to push "my law". It's your choice, your life, your problem if you find out the hard way, which I hope doesn't happen. But if you think "God's grace" is all you need to walk away from an accident, good luck!
Since you want to bring God into it, God helps those who help themselves. Most people comprehend the fact that seat belts save lives and put them on for their own safety - meaning they help themselves. So I wouldn't say it's God's grace that allowed you to walk away, rather blind luck. If you believe your luck is so good that you'll walk away from any accident, so be it.

Do any of you people who don't wear belts have children? If so, are you saying it's okay to have infants or toddlers or older kids in the car without being restrained? Would you just toss your newborn on the passenger seat and let whatever happens happen? Either your answer is no, and you prove my point, or your answer is yes and you need to have your kids taken away.

Well said, man....

I wear my seat belt every time. This doesn't mean I won't get killed in a crash, but the odds that I'll have an open casket are WAY better than those who don't wear it....

I have heard him say this in person!

I AGREE with seat belts to some extent. They are a GREAT asset in the majority of motor vehicle accidents but in the end luck and/or a safety belt save your life. Some times pure luck OR a safety belt save your life. The best chance of survival is a safety belt BUT we will always have exceptions.

FYI that Ohio law regarding the 55 MPH speed limit being raised to 65 does not apply in congested counties such as Cuyahoga, Franklin, etc.

I am not a first responder ,i am however a medical professional and i do not agree with seat belts for two reasons.
no1 my gramps was in a rollover into a river my granny was not wearing her seat belt swam right out he is a paraplegic and had his on he couldn't remove his belt because his legs had sunk towards his body making it impossible for him to reach his belt latch thankfully the granny dove down and helped him out if not he would have drowned due to his belt
no 2 the most wrecks i see with fatalities are the people how had their belts on.

and also inertia will not always pin you it depends on the layout of the cabin if there is nothing towards the passenger side as in a bench seat car or truck where then you would be thrown across the cabin .

on a lighter note Ohio does not have the worst drivers i think that title belongs to the floriditots

Please understand that seatbelts do not eliminate all injuries, and can in fact be the cause of different injuries than would have occurred without having worn them. Those injuries are normally not as severe as hitting your head on the windshield or being thrown from a vehicle.
So if you really think that your better off not wearing a seatbelt, go right ahead. More power to you.

Being a "medical professional" as you put it, I would assume that you could throw a sentence together for us, being a professional and all. Second, I don't think 9 out of 10 accidents are rollovers into rivers. Again, blind luck.

*Side note: The grammar and or punctuation is up for discussion in a different thread.:icon_thumby:

personally i think seat belt laws are stupid. I think it should be the persons choice to choose if they want to wear one or not, its their life and if they want to die, who are we to stop them. Same with helmet laws. But ide still wear them haha!

Arizona's stupid. no motorcycle helmet law but you must wear seatbealts in an auto. if people ride in the back of my truck(no jump seats or anything) no problem but i must wear a seatbelt in the cab:pissedoff:

Hey Tom i did not know i was unable to take a day off from my otherwise error free lifestyle. There is your period i know its so surprising i can make one! I don't seem to see anywhere in your post where you give any examples of seat belts saving or ending lives; moreover, all it seems you did was attack me. Fret not i forgive you for that; however, the quotations around medical professional are very insensitive. I am a professional i was unaware that i could not take time off to act dumb and not care thanks for clearing that up for me boss.
In summation i beg for your forgiveness all mighty Tom please forgive me for my grammatical sins. I will always strive to be more like you in all my posts: judgmental, insecure, irrelevant , argumentative, and ignorant. So please accept my apology as i am now ashamed and shunned i will be error free from now on... eh on second thought just take a leap.
love the bomb muwah!
