Hello everybody. My name is Shaun, and i'm fairly new here.I've known about the site for quite some time, but have just now joined up.I'm an avid Ford Truck Enthusiast and i'm a member of a couple different sites.I currently own a 1980 Ford F100.
Back in February I had bought myself a 2000 Ford Ranger Sport. It was a Black single cab longbed, and had a 2.5 4 banger with an automatic transmission.I picked it up for 800 dollars. It had 180,000 miles, but the 2.5 had been rebuilt 20,000 miles before. The only problem it had was that the transmission had trouble shifting from first to second, and the truck would jolt when the truck went into gear. This was due to the previous owner pulling horse trailers with the truck.Well, two weeks later I was coming back from my then girlfriends house, when the transmission locked up and caused me to lose control of the truck.I ended up in the other lane, and saw a couple cars coming,so I attempted to get back in the right lane.Well, the street was very narrow, and there was a wooded area next to the lane I was getting back into.Well the truck didn't respond when I tried to correct,so it headed straight for the wooded area.I ended up hitting a tree with the Driver's side front of my truck.
So,my Ranger went from this....
To this.....
I walked away from it without a scratch.I'm 6'2" tall,so I had the seat all the way back, and the airbag didn't touch me.I also had my heavy camo jacket on,so it didn't burn my arms.I was also wearing my seatbelt.I was a little sore the next day,but nothing major. The truck was a loss.At the time I didn't want to rebuild it,so I signed it over to the towing company that towed it from the scene.I was told that the truck would be scrapped, but I found out later that one of the tow truck drivers had been given the truck, and had fixed it up and was now driving it.I was pretty angry. Now,I regret ever letting that truck go.
The aforementioned F100 is my little restoration project,so for now i'm out of a truck.I'm currently looking for a new Ranger.I'm looking for a 98-2003.I really fell in love with Rangers, and I intend to own at least one for the rest of my life.I look forward to popping in every once in awhile and getting to know some of ya'll,and helping answer questions whenever I can.
