My mothers fruitcake. Harder and more durable than a hockey puck. Better shelf life than lift grade plastic, also, shipped once a year free to my door.

2 loaves = full 3" kit

I don't know why people insist on making fruitcakes that nobody will eat because they're hard enough to break your teeth on.

My mom has people begging for her fruitcakes every year. I took a slice to work with me yesterday and after I ate it I realized that my breath now smelled strongly of alcohol... probably not a good thing to smell like that at work, lol. Mom uses an old Austrian recipe that was brought here by my great grandparents. The fruit is cooked with white wine and the cake is made with brandy. Then the finished product is soaked in more brandy and left to age for two months. A half gallon of wine and almost a gallon of brandy is used to make about 10 cakes - which are nice and moist.

LOL...but, unlike most people, I actually like it...not crazy about those green cherries (moldy virgins?) or some of the other objects I've found in them...but a fruit cake slice slathered in butter with peanut butter and I'm good to go...

My Grandmother used to make money cake...and she actually put coins in the cake...kinda throws you off when you chomp down on a dime...and I think that's where the term "stop on a dime" came from...

It was a treat to find money in the cake though...

Lol! Ok, seriously, my girl is still laughing 5 minutes after she read that.

LOL!

I love the cherries in the fruitcake mom makes. Probably because they have a propensity to suck up a lot of the alcohol used to make the cakes....
