New here and need help

Did you replace the iac with a cheap parts store aftermarket. I had the same idle issues. I bought a factory ford iac and it worked perfect ever since, Even the hitachi brand works well.

My new thermostat is OEM I did test it and it is good and it does seal I did test my TPS sensor and it is good although I did find I took my oil cap off I was adding oil my dad was helping me look at it and he told me to go start it and I hadn't put the cap back on so I went started it and put my oil cap back on and all of a sudden my RPM raised my crankcase is creating a suction I take the cap back off and my idle lowers I checked my PCV valve and I believe it's bad also is there supposed to be a one-way check valve on that hose that goes from the oil neck where you add oil to the intake?

No, the fresh air side vent is not a valve of any kind, it is just open. If the PCV is stuck open then when you open the oil filler cap you are creating a vacuum leak. Meaning idle will shoot up. Replace the pcv valve.

Air running through the vent side is metered by the MAF sensor, air rushing in through the oil filler cap is not metered. Metered air = good. Non metered air = vacuum leak.

Hello I'm sorry I haven't responded to anyone on this for awhile but I have news on my ranger I found the problem on the reving I just finished it and now it runs fine my intake gasket was bad some how I don't know how this happened. I have included a picture

The Hitachi is Auto Zones premium part. The El Cheapo ones cost around $39.95, likely more as I haven't bought one in years. When I got my first Hitachi in 2015, it was near double the price of the El Cheapo made in Mexico IACs. But I haven't had to replace it again since then. The Made in Mexico parts, once a year was normal for me. I also have a hitachi on my Lightning, replacing the previous El Cheapo part.

That'll do it. Big vacuum leak, right at the source, the intake manifold. Vacuum leaks usually cause an engine to idle high, due to too much air and leaned out mixture. Even back in the days of carburetors they were a hassle to find. At least back then, there weren't as many sources, fewer hoses, etc. Nowadays, engine compartments look like a bunch of spaghetti. I fondly remember my last real hotrod, a 1970 Pontiac Firebird Formula 400. Nothing under the hood but a motor, no ac, no condenser, nothing. Four barrel carb with a ram air hood, two snorkels on the air cleaner housing with rubber boots that sealed to the hood. Had to remove the air cleaner lid once a week to clean out bugs, leafs, etc. Much preferred to vehicles today. Wish I had never sold it.

Drain out the coolant. It will run warmer.
