Afternoon folks, just a new guy here looking for some help on how to go about a swap for a street strip application.

Project: 85 ranger 2wd and have 2 302 blocks one roller and non roller. Problem: need to find a manual trans for swap, i do have access to 3 mazda rx8 trans which i would like to use but cant find a darn thing about them for adapters or specs. Im sure they will be out of the question. Any and all input is appreciated.

The 1997 to 2003 F-150s with 4.2L V6 used the M5OD-R2 5-speed trans, it has shifter in the same place as Rangers were, well within an inch
Its rated for 350ft/lb torque, so fine for most V8s

The 4.2l V6 has the same bolt pattern as the 302 V8, the bell housing holes need to be reemed out 1/16" because they are metric diameter, 302 used SAE bolt size

You can use older 302 V8 transmissions from trucks, you just need to bend the shifter because it will come up under the dash
Mustang V8 trans shifters come up between Ranger seats so can be a pain with bench seats
