Hello,
I recently had all of my tools stolen from me. I have used a lot of different brands over the years but prefer Snap-On and Mac Tools. I picked up a cheap set from the local big box store but its not the same. I am looking to start rebuilding my collection a few pieces at a time. Starting with what I will need the most.

I just picked up a 2.3T Engine from an 88 TC w/ plans of rebuilding it and then doing a swap into my Ranger.

Could someone help me with the most common fastener sizes on the 2.3? and the Ranger?

I have a few odds and end left from my bag but looking to pick up a couple sockets and spanners and go from there.

Thanks!

Nothing too off the wall... head bolts will be torx if I remember right, EGR tube is around 1 1/8", most everything else is normal metric except the engine mount studs that are 18mm, drive shaft bolts are 12pt 12mm, most everything else is either 13mm or 10mm

Thanks for the reply, I didnt get an email and stopped checking to see if I got a response. I found a fastener guide w/ all the sizes. I dont know if I should start a separate thread but I have another question. I picked up the Motor assembly for really cheap from a guy who started to disassemble but either got lost or ran out of cash.
My question is the crank is out of the block and so are the pistons and rods. The pistons and rods are still connected but not labeled and neither are the end caps which fell off on my 4hr drive home. Since I dont know which small rod end goes to which rod and which piston goes in what cylinder what should I do? Trying to teach myself and this is the first rebuild attempt. Any help would be great.

I've been busy lately, sorry...

Anyway, it's easy, all the rods will be labeled with which cylinder they go to at the cap if I remember right, and I think there's an arrow that points forward on the piston... it's been about a year since I put my engine back together though...

The rods will be labeled, but they are not necessarily labled correctly, the rod will go with the cap with the same number or letter on it. They can be hard to see. The rods should also have a mark that points forward. Now, I would assume that if its apart its either been torn apart to be rebuilt, or rebuilt and not assembled. If they pulled it apart, it was probably because it needed rebuilt. I would not put it back together without it being bored and new pistons. Just my opinion though.

i had the same problem twice in spokane they tore the trunk locks out of my car and stole all my tools called the cops and was told it was my problem and don't bother them unless they are worth more than 5000 bucks man spokane police sucked back then , so i moved to my new home and have been piecing sets back together as needed so far so good whitman county is awsome.
