I've got an 87 ranger. Manual trans and transfer case. No power windows or locks. No ABS. I WENT TO THE REFEREE station for inspection and it failed because the 4.0l computer I'm using isn't correct and my check engine light isn't hooked up (not the problem). My problem is that nobody can help me figure out which computer I need!! I know one of you gurus can help point me in the right direction!

I know what you are talking about but have no idea where to find the list of ECUs by letter codes.
My '86 b2 had a RM2 ECU manual trans. I have run a '86 autotrans ECU and that would set and ODB code for converter lockup (but it did run). I now run a '87 2.9 ranger/b2 ECU manual and it is fault code free.

ABS and power windows are not part of that era ECU, FYI.

You can see examples of that letter code on pages 21-22 for example;
