So I recently found a Marlin model 80 and picked it up for a heck of a deal. The only thing I saw wrong with it was it was missing the butt plate, trigger guard has been replaced with a plastic one but still looks ok, and it was missing one screw for the clip bezel plate. Bolt action moves great and it is in overall really good shape. I am trying to find a butt plate for this but I am not having any luck unless I buy a complete stock which I don't need and they cost way too much. Does anyone know what other models have the same size as a Marlin model 80? It measures 4-5/8" long and 1-9/16" wide at its widest point. I found some online that are really close to that measurement but they are recommended for other rifles and not the model 80. I would like to find one that says "Marlin" on it to keep the gun original. Based on the information I found the gun is from 1934-1939 since it does not have a serial number and no micro-boring. So I just want to keep it original, keep it clean, and kill some squirrels with it. Also does anyone know what range the sights are set at? I can easily adjust it to other notches I just don't know how many yards each notch moves the sight. Anyone have ANY info on this gun that is unique or interesting?

I see some stocks on Ebay with the plate, some Glenfields might be similar (although they wouldn't say Marlin on them)

Yeah I've looked at them and they are slightly different measurements. Ones that say they fit the model 80 have measurements that are an inch longer than my stock. I found some that are really close but I forgot to measure the distance between the screw holes so I gotta wait until I get home.

Sounds like something to look for at a gun show / swap meet.

That site is really handy and I may have to use it to get a new trigger guard but it does not have any butt plates. Seems like they reproduce everything but the stock and butt plate. Unless i'm looking in the wrong area but I didn't see it on that link.

Keep checking Numrich gun parts. Their stock changes often, and they have more rare gun parts than any other business I've ever found. They buy up entire factories worth of stock when they close down, etc..

I'd also check Gunbroker.
