I have been looking for a fuel tank that I can retro fit on my truck. My tank only holds 16 gal of fule and with my 302 that dont last long. Any help is helpful thanks.

run dual tanks, either a BII rear tank (sacrifice a little ground clearence) or a gen 1 dual tank rear tank.

Do you know what year BII that have dual tanks I can still one from. Whats all involved in doing a dual tank setup? How much more fule will that give me?

BII's didnt come with dual tanks. their main fuel tank is located behind the axle (since the spair tire was always attached to the back). since its the only tank, its a little bit larger than the dual tank rangers rear tank, so it hangs down a little further (i dont remember the capacity of either tank).

to swap either the rear tank out of a dual tank ranger or a BII tank requires the tank, crossmembers and fuel tank straps. its a bit of a process since the crossmembers are rivited on...

So will any year BII tank work. And what about the filler neck where do you run that with this set up. The cross member does not bother me I have removed rivets before on my truck.

i believe all BII tanks are the same (the body style never changed after all).

i cant remember the members name that did this swap...for a fuel filler he had run the neck right through the inside of the bed and make a shroud for it. being that your truck is an older gen, i see no reason you couldnt use all the second fuel door and filler neck stuff from a dual tank ranger....thats something youll just have to experiment with.

The BII tank is 23 gal. :D

Thanks, it sounds like Im looking for a BII tank this weekend.

thats the one! thanks 97...i was having a hell of a time finding that.

that should have all the info you need. and im sure if you have any more questions you could PM bray.

I had a custom 28 gallon gas tank made for my 89 Extended Cab STX Ranger. It replaced the original one. It was not cheap but it sure did come in handy on long off-road trips.
