I was just poking over at White Trash Repairs.com and found this sad abuse of an F-150:

The only way this could be sadder would've been if it was a Ranger.

An F-150 is NOT the right Ford for the job. An F-550 or larger would work much better!
 
I used to work at a paving stone plant, and one of our installers used a S-10 to carry his bricks to the jobsite.
Avg. weight of a pallet of pave stones? 3200 Lbs. How many will fit in the bed of a S-10? about 1.5! And it still carried tools and 3 laborers! This was an every day, once or twice a day thing...Good thing the contractor "supplied" the truck for these guys...
 
The weight insnt the issue with these guys. The truck can physically handle the weight, tho not practically. The problem is the leverage of the weight. ITs SOOOOOOO heavy in the back that the rear susp is being crushed. and there is almost no weight on hte front end due to the balance of the wood being too far back. if they go over 35 they cant stop or steer.(or extremely limited) any bump they hit will bounce the front tires off the ground or drag the wood, either way these guys are totally fawked. Goobers
 
used to work for a metal fabrication shop that routinely loaded pallets of steel sheets in the back of the f150 shop truck.driving it was fun,tire blowouts were common.
the saying was that 1/2 ton meant it was good for 1 or 2 tons...3/4 ton meant it was good for 3 or 4 tons.
 
and nobody is worried about the fact they are using twine to hold it down

that's so one of them can sit on the front over the cab, cut the twine, and slingshot themselves.
 
Yeah, you need the right tool for the job. If you have full-floating axles on your truck, you have the right tool. Any other truck is for occasional use only.
