I have a 2001 Ranger with the 2.3 L Dutatec I am rebuilding. The crankshaft looks like it had been worked on before and when I sent it to a shop to check it out they found a 1.5" crack, so it it trash. They have been trying to find a replacement crank but not having any luck. The crankshafts on later model year Rangers are available but they have a gear incorporated, I think to drive a balancer & he didn't think those would work. My crankshaft is a 1L5G and it sounds like they only used these a couple of years.
Apparently they used these engines in racing application. They were used up pretty quickly and he can't find any cores from his sources. He said there are brand new racing crankshafts available, but they are several thousand dollars which doesn't make sense for my use/just trying to get my old truck on the road again.
Anybody know if a source for a 1L5G crank for this 2001 2.3 ?
Thanks.
