Mystery Plug?

I have an unused wire connector with 4 pins plugged into a plastic holder in the back of the radio bezel, passenger side, just below the round accessory plug (cell phone charge, etc.).

Nothing in my owner's manual, and internet has various possibilities but nothing specific for my truck.

Anyone have a clue? Fog light switch? Heated seats switch? How can I find out exactly what it is for?

Thanks.

Fog light switch.

Excellent! Thanks.

I have the fog light plugs just behind the bumper and a fog fuse installed.

Would that mean all I'd have to do was wire the connector to a switch and hook the plugs to lights and - VOILA I'd have fog lights?

Should. Sometimes it's more complicated, but it should be that easy.

I got a cheap Ford switch from eBay to test and found it provides power to fog plugs behind bumper as the relays are already installed. So all the wiring is pre-installed.

There are aftermarket replacement fogs that say exact fit, but I think those are for replacing existing Ford housings.

It appears there are 3-4 bolts that secure the light housing behind the bumper from looking at pictures, but I don't have any mounts on the bumper, just the blocked off holes/indents for lights that I could simply cut out but need some advice on best way to mount new light housing.

Would I need a new bumper or is there a bracket I could add?

Get the OEM bracket and cut the holes in the lower valance.

Thanks for reply. I've contacted dealer for picture, availability and price.

Online dealer has not responded. Looking behind the bumper where fog light pocket is molded into bumper I'm at a loss as to how any bracket would be attached to the frame/bumper to fasten the fog light. I know I have to cut out the rear of pocket. See picture.

Anyone who can see how their fog light from same year is attached I'd appreciate a pic.

After some investigation and getting a Ford blow-up drawing of the bracket and lights I found I also need the 3 plastic bumper tabs which would have been molded into the rear of the light pockets on a vehicle with factory lights. Those tabs accept metal clips which allow bolts to hold the light bracket.

At this point I don't see any way to install factory or factory aftermarket lights on this truck without a new bumper.

Look at LMC Trucks. They have just lower valances.

Sent from the garage of the never ending projects.

Yes thanks, they do carry the lower valance - but now I need to convince myself that the $100 is worth it when added to lights.

But thanks for the link, I will bookmark.

I just ordered some aftermarket projector headlights for my '93 that have projector fog lights built in. Granted, the fog lights will be higher than the original location would be. That's a two-edged sword. They will be up out of harm's way which will be good for off-roading. But I have heard that fog lights should be down low to cut under the fog. I don't use fog lights very often anyway. So for my purposes, having them up in the headlight assembly will be fine.

Can you post the link to those? I believe the projector is low beam only and not fog lights which is the topic at hand.

My addition of fogs is mostly cosmetic as we don't get much fog here.

I think I may try some junk yards for the proper lower valance, but it's not a priority for me.
