My truck got hit today.

Press charges... he fled the scene of an accident... he should be in jail.

He has Safe Auto. I hope I'm not in for a fight. A friend of mine had tons of issues with them when he got hit by someone with Safe Auto.

Hmmm, I've always like safe auto they was my provider for years. But then again I never was hit by someone with them. I'm now with Progresive with my wife and they are way better. They were awsome when we got our car stolen. Not that that has anything to do with your truck I just get off subject easly. I wish you good luck.

I hope it goes well. Like what was said before me, that bracket looks like it has been bent for awhile. I think you got lucky and have just bent suspension parts and/or steering parts. Get it checked out by a collision specialist, they will tell you whats wrong for sure.

It gets checked out on Monday.

it looks like the same exact damage that happent to mine when i nailed the tree , steering wise all mine needed was the 'drag link' , i mean other than the other $500 worth f parts that i destroyed and had to replace , i was suprised at how easily it gave , so you may turn out lucky and just need steering components , and as far as the guy goes , get an estimate on all the parts needed (including a new bumper) and go to him and say "you pay for all this and I will let this go" , we all have our bad days from time to time and as long as he is willing to pay for what he did there is no reason to drag him through hell over some bent steering components

Kinda what I was thinking.

I dont know that you have to press charges, but as long as theres an accident report his insurance company owes you. If they dont play ball, tell em youll get a lawyer. That usually does it.

A good buddy of mine backed straight into my bed. Put a pretty good dent in it, and of course the bastard didnt have insurance. His parents cut me a 500$ check, better than nothing i guess. Shop wants to charge me 1400 for the half panel and painting it.

Instead of the $1400 why not hit the wrecking yard for a bed, 8 bolts, the taillight connections and 20 mins you can ,,oh wait excuse me, YOUR BUDDY that hit you can have the bed ready to come off and just replace it. You may get lucky and find the same color somewhere.

It is nice to have my truck back. It would have been nicer to get it back before it snowed so I could play in it.

So whats the story?

I got lucky I guess. It just needed tie rods and ends and they also replaced the pitman arm even though it looked alright, I guess they didn't want to take any chances. The total was under $500 which insurance took care of..

It depends on how hard he actually hit you and at what angle. i work at an auto body shop and i've seen frames get bent going 20mph. the only thing i can suggest is take it to a local body shop and get a set up and measure done on the frame.

They guy had step bars. The Blazer itself didn't hit my tire the step bars did. I took it to a shop that I trust and that has a good reputation for collision repair. I have a corner lot on the NE corner. My House faces West. My truck was parked in front. The guy was eastbound and turned left onto my street. He took the corner to wide and his step bars hit my tire.

from the description of the hit it doesnt sound too bad, but i could be wrong, but yeah, i would just double check the frame and suspension on the side it got hit, as well as the whole front end.
