My rebuild of my new 84 Ranger 302

Well my eye is doing better now. I took out the 7.5 rear end tonight and installed the 8.8 rear end and to find out the 7.5 driveshaft won't bolt on the 8.8 rear end. Poop on a stick. What driveshaft should I get that will bolt on the 1992 ranger 8.8 rear end and a FMX transmission or a C4

Hey broskie, glad u recovering well. As for the drive shaft, my suggestion would be for a regular cab 5 speed ranger from 93-97
Check my thread, I think there is a blog I referenced in there.

thanks brother, I will do that. Going to pull a part tomorrow if I can borrow my friends truck.:icon_twisted: slowly but surely I'm putting it together with my broke bank account lol

Good luck on your search. u might even look at thr Mazda ranger version too as a heads up mang, can't verify that tho, figured they are similar. And yeah mon, I'm busting it at work to fund this build since it's still sitting at the shop.

Awesome Awesome, Went to a pull-a-part this morning gotten a 200? F-150 driveshaft for $20.49 then took it to the machine shop and had them shorten it $40 awesome price and it fit like a glove. Now the fun begins

Woot wooot!! Good find and not to bad price...now get er dun mang!

If you havent fixed your DS problem yet, they used to make a odd sized U-Joint. It would fit the 7.5 yoke, and wider for the 8.8 yoke. I used to run one when I had the 7.5 in my 84, but never fully trusted it. It never let me down, and then I had custom shafts made for mine. I dont have a part number, but just tell your parts people you need one that is x wide (7.5 width), by x wide 8.8 width. You will need the yoke for the 8.8 (off the old donor DS)

Yea, I found a DS from a 2000? model F-150 and had my output yoke put on it and the shaft shorten. Works perfect. Thanks

Did some test launches today on my street, a prefect 1/8 mile track. The vegetables and cotton won't complain about me dragging lol.:icon_rofl:

Stupid Summit Racing Fuel pump SUM-G3136-0 This is the 3rd pump since October. They are Junk if you ask me now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Points Races are this Weekend and nowe I'm waiting for Summit to warranty the 3rd pump:dunno:
Just called Summit to make sure they are sending me another pump and I express my disappointment about the pump and I wanted an exchange to a better pump like a Holley blue. But the lady supervisor was giving me BS she said that the tech guy said that I'm burning up the pumps by not having a return line to my tank! Hmmm excused me but my 84 Ranger doesn't have a return gas line and your pump instructions doesn't have a return line to the tank, don't put it on me. I don't make crappy products. as you can see on the summit pump instructions it doesn't you need a return line.

Ah yeah man, gotta love it when this shit happens. Are they sending u a new one? Seriously hoping my pump keeps ticking since I also do not have a "return line". I've heard good things on summits warranty stuff, hoping u get it back in for the weekend runs! AZ usually has Mr gasket efp's in stock incase u don't get it in time.

Yes It is on the UPS tracking. But bro,:icon_confused: some people shouldn't work at a part house as a tech if they don't know about cars or products. Lol Telling me I'm burning it up because I have no return line, when the instructions doesn't says or show we needed a return line. It only says for best performance and maintenance to put a filter before the pump. :icon_twisted::shok:

Ok Help me out here. Got another stupid Summit Racing pump friday and installed it. Went to the points race and it did terrible bad still fuel pump problems. Pump quits under acceleration in the middle of the 1/4 mile. Doesn't come back on until I push it in the pits. Lost the race went home check flow of gas from tank to pump and it is good flowing to the pump so no problem there. Pump has power and ground but quits whenever it wants to. don't feel hot or warm. Summit says I need a return line!!!!! No carburetor motor has a return line. Besides as you Early Gen Rangers know our gas tank doesn't have a return line on the tank. So my question is can I put a return line back into the line before the pump like tee it in the hose so it cycles it?:icon_confused:
