my new project QUAD CAB

i dont think ohio is quite as bad as new york state in the salt dept.

Our salt sucks ass. I can't remember what the chemical content is but it's pretty bad. I think it was something like cyanide, or related to it. Kills some animals. That's why you see a lot more road kill during winter, they lick the salt and not only get hit in the road, but stumble off into the forest to die. I'll look it up, had a whole project on it for school somewhere..

:icon_welder:Well, everyone sorry about the length of time since last post. Winter hit us with 70mph gusts the Sunday after Christmas . Took part of my Roof so I had to repair that what fun being on a Roof for 8 hours. The Sunday before my Family hosted the Christmas party for the relatives what a day that ended up being 2 plus feet of snow at least it was a white Christmas.

Ok with that said, lets see the progress after looking and thinking for a long time at the doors also getting my stomach not to churn about cutting the doors up. I started with lobbing off the front of the door for the rear pass side.

Next I cut the rear upright support off the black door to use for the front of the rear doors and started forming it to the front of rear door

Also had to make allowances for the hinges

Next I looked at the explorer door and noticed the upright support and cut that to use in the front f the rear door

With that done I clamped it together to show what it is going to look like
Have to add extension on the front to make edge for the front door

quite a handfull of a project there. thats going to be one long frame. maybe you should set it up with 4 wheel steering to make cornering easier. im thinking of a old johnny cash song, you know the one about the caddilac that was "built" over the years with parts took home from work at g.m. " '49,'50,'51,'52"....ect. should be neat when its all done. glad my core support isnt as bad as the black splash. i dont think ohio is quite as bad as new york state in the salt dept.

i love that song! its called "One Piece At A Time" funny story to it! :icon_thumby:

Did you grind or wire brush the metal clean before you welded it?

looks damn impressive. I like how you never said you were a master body fabriactor and just let everyone think you were in over your head. I cant wait to see this done (im still waiting to see mine finished, going on 1 year now)!

ok
now areas not cleaaned for tacks they willbe when the tig is going to be done

next
the idea of me being a master fab man is WAY OFF never fabbed body panels before in my life used to what dad do it but me never

pass rear door all done basiisly starting on drivers rear tonite

Perfect example of watch and learn. Very nice work, very detail oriented, not just thrown together and tacked here and there. Gives you credibility, and assures that when you are done it will look factory. Just need to get you some of that sealant and before paint smear it over the seems - "Yeah Ford built these for one year in Antarctica or something" LOL.

I am very impressed though - I am also taking the knife (cough cough sawzall cough cough) to a Nissan 240SX for some new tails, nothing to this extent - keep us posted as we patiently wait for updates.
