My little Iron Ranger {Part 2}

Well, the older brother and I took it for a test run, and a bunch of codes shot out. There's also an Idle issue we're trying to work out. And there's a small leak on the T-5 between the tranny face and the bellhousing, it's either a leak in the retainer or(hope not) a crack in the case.

nice build givin me lots o good ideas i hope ya get it right and ill race ya in meh 3.0 ;) when she gets to 55 she hits the sweet spot watch out ;)

>.> puting an aluminum 351w 40 over stroker/blower *cought cought somethin another*

I'm not going to race a 3.0. Put a turbo on it and we'll talk...........:D:D:icon_twisted:

My brother got the idle figured out, now she purrs like a kitten!!!

Now I just got to address the tranny leak and the waaaaaaaaay excessive black smoke that it pours out( The theory is that the factory MAF{19lb} isn't rated for the 24lb injectors, so lots of unburned fuel is the cause of the smoke.)

We'll find out after a look-see on the spark plugs.

If you've ever wondered what an extremely rich engine does to the spark plugs, here you go.

I think the culprit is the 24lb injectors that came from the "donor" vehicle.

The MAF and computer are calibrated for stock 19lb injectors, so the 24lb ones are letting extra fuel in that the computer isn't reading, thus a rich and very doggy launch.

you know, with all the fab work you've done with the rear end, the exhaust and everything else: dude ditch that body lift. :thefinger:it looks goofy as hell with the wheels your running and its just seems like its a hokey quick fix. everything else looks great so far and I can't wait to see some burnout vid's:D.

Yeah......sure............ this is a kick in the butt.

The body lift is the quick fix for everything to clear properly. It's the best and cheapest insurance that everything will clear without a lot of headache.

Trust me, when you sink as much time and money into something like this, and time's a factor, the easiest way is sometimes the best.

It may look a little "odd" to some people, but it looks a lot better than it did before, I hated the squatted look anyway.

It may look goofy, but this goofy rig will also be able to run with the big dogs:3gears:

If I get ambitious in the future, maybe I'll remove the lift, but that's in the distant future.

Anyhoo.......................

Got the tranny pulled, and it seems that the source of the leak is at the bearing cap. May be able to get by with cleaning it throughly and applying a good coat of RTV.

We'll see.

can u tell me exactly what slave cylinder u used for it to work correctly with the stock ranger master?

Found out where the tranny leak is coming from.:annoyed: The bearing cap. It's leaking out of the edges, I don't know if not enough RTV was used or if the hole in the case is worn out, I don't know.

Maybe some epoxy or something will seal it up on the edges.

Do you guys know of anything that can "penetrate" down in the grooves and seal it up?

SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH........................... We'll keep this one from the fuzz. Notice how it's tucked behind the frame? :D:D:D:D:D:D

my buddy has those on his 71 monte carlo, there a slick set up. id love to hear that bad boy uncapped:D:icon_thumby::headbang:. great truck:icon_thumby:

Is the picture in the link correct? Because the line and the bleeder are on the bottom side of the slave. How would you bleed it without taking it off?

I made a bracket that flips it right-side-up and holds it up. I didn't look at the pic close enough to see that it is a right-side mounting setup(or that's what it looks like anyway).

Most people just drill and bolt a piece of angle iron to the bellhousing, but since this was a special slave cylinder, a few measurements and a couple zaps of the welder, then BOOM, a very workable bracket.

I'll get some pics up if you want.

Just pop it off, slap some new RTV on it, maybe a new input shaft seal(I think there is one) and put it back on....easy.

As far as it running right, have you pulled the codes?

It doesn't have a seal, its a NWC.

We're going to clean and put a liberal coating of some very expensive liquid gasket over the cap(it's made for ATF, oil and such). The bellhousing should create a tight seal over the cap face.

It will run right, once the new injectors arive

i wish i could build a ranger like yours....id show my buddy (chebbie lover) how us blue oval guys do it:D
