As cool as it would be... It can't be done... The ruff texture wouldn't allow it. I can make it look "wet" though... The main reason the truck has the mirror like finish is it has little to no orange peel... it also helps to have it as slick as possible from the metal up.. If the surface you are painting has any type of texture to it then it takes the shine factor away..

Added a few items to the truck... No major deal but adds personality. Plans are to do the spray in bedliner and build spare tire carrier under truck.

here is a thought about the spray in liner that I have. Right now in the can it is clear. It can be tinted to any color. So my thoughts are to lay out a Cobra in the bed floor and paint it with liner... the only thing is it would take many weekend to complete because of dry time... So the whole bed would be black except a cobra in the middle of the floor...

Do it, it will only add to the Niceness (is that a word) to the truck, your Truck is really awesome, I hope I can get mine to just a 10th of your truck, I would happy with that.

It would have been gold... Decided it was too much to deal with and with the weather turning cold I am ready to get it done so solid black she goes... But it would have been cool...

Spray in liner... Done!!

Nice to get a big task done for a change... I have never sprayed any of the other liners you can get from the parts store but I have seen trucks with it sprayed in... I will tell you SEM has the best you can get. Others I have seen look more like thick paint to me.. The down side you have a pot life of 20 min after the hardner is mixed in. So mix a little at a time!!


Next up the interior completed!! Or the rear axle swap.. oh wait the spare tire carrier is next up!!

anyway, ive always seen the sem bed liner at my paint store, but never gave it a second thought, ive always used herculiner.

but, can the sem be roller on? if not, what kind of gun and what size tip are you using?

i have an old binks laying around but havent used it since hvlp hit the scene.

Thanks Bud!! I would imagine you are talking about a Binks #7.(Man Those are old school!). It isn't big enough for this stuff.. You can use a body Shultz gun but the correct gun to use is this one.
http://semproducts.com/Catalog.asp?prod=158 This thing is like a garden hose Oh yeah keep in mind it comes in two flavors.. Clear that is tintable which is what i used (i got it free) and black..

Tints 8 to 1 part color and then 2 to 1 part hardner.... Black just mixes 2 to 1...

I doubt you would want to roll this stuff on.. Not sure if it can be or not though However I wouldn't attempt it even if it can be done...
