My idea of a Shelby Ranger if there would have been one.

After the trip down to south Ga with speeds limits around 70 on the highway I am back to thinking on putting the 3.08 in to get the RPMs down... It just seems to turn up too many RPMs with the 3.45.... I just wish I could get a 3.08 in a LS flavor... How much power will I lose with a higher gearing???

You won't lose anything. My truck originally had 3.08s, I put in 3.73s and the only thing I got out of it was .2 of a second off of my 60ft at the dragstrip, oh and I lost about 3mpg on the highway. I put 3.55s in it with a tight limited slip, haven't driven it yet though! You can have a limited slip with any gear ratio, you'll just have to have someone set it up, luckily I have friends that did it for me.

I'm guessing you know that you'll have to get a 8.8 to have the 3.08 ratio.

Thanks ZMan! I do know about the 8.8 3.08.. I have one already from the truck my 4.0 came from.

I feel better about doing it now.

I announced it in several different threads.. Sorry bud.. We really enjoyed it. I like the way it honored the people and planes of different wars and things...
I recommend anyone that can make a trip to it to do so...

My loss then, didn't know I missed the announcement. Glad to hear you enjoyed the museum.

We will be heading back down that way again for one reason or another... I'd like to get a group up to meet for lunch or something one day...

Multi I was going to toss your truck into the ring for STOTM, good thing I checked your tag first:D

I just read this entire f***ing thread. I can't believe I've missed this.

First off, nice job. I agree that black needs to be meticulously tended to, and it's evident that you have taken great strides in it's perfection. The engine color motif was different and nice, and I'm glad you got the ABS issue worked out.

The tailgate looks great, but is it really THAT much heavier than the stock one? (It's ok, I won't hold it against you about the Chevy parts/handle either!) I would have chosen that for rims as well, and it's actually inspiring for the rest of us to see a POS turn into a machine that calls out to streetside rubber-neckers.

Not a fan of Cherry Bomb brand, but if it sounds good to you and isn't excessively loud, then kudos. I liked the smoked out gauge cluster as well. Meghan Gauges have a feature like that, and it adds a certain degree of coolness.

I didn't see it, but where did you get the ground effects for the ranger? You didn't make the bumpers and skirts...

Are you going to get it weighed at any time? I'd love to know how it turned out and your power:weight.

Oh, and BTW, you've got awesome toys. That Snap-On OBD scanner is a pricey SOB!

What is your total in build cost for your rig?

Thanks Pete! I am actually still working on getting the black perfected... It has a great shine but I think I can make it better.

The tailgate is extremly heavy compared to the stock factory gate. It can be removed by one person but two is better... The Chevy handle is the cheapest and easiest way I found to do a flip. I have no idea what it weighs but the steel I used to flatten it added a good bit of weight. Plus the hitch in the back prolly bumps on 75 + pounds.. Still have to add the custom built tire carrier under her. So that will add another 25-50 pounds I'd guess... My guess is that when it is all said and done the truck will weigh 3 to 4 hundred pounds more than it did bone stock. The ground effects are made by Stillen. I found them on clearence in Va for around 400.00.

If I can find a place to weigh it I would do it as long as it's free. I can say it is very fast.. Takes no time at all to get to 60 MPH or to bury the speedo and The torque will plant you back in the seat decently even in over drive... I'm not a fan of Cherry Bombs either but the trucks sounds really good so I am glad I took the advise to go with it.

I have no idea the total cost in the truck.. Not including my time less than 4 thousand I would guess... I shopped before I bought and got the best price I could.. as an example I saved 300 bucks on the body kit by shopping around the internet. I even saved 100 dollars on the HV oil pump.. Remember Ebay is your best friend.

Called to get the bedliner sprayed in.. I thought I would be able to have it done for 250.00. Turns out the guy wanted 400.00 then he went down to 375.00.. Well not gonna let him do it.. I am gonna do it myself now.. I got a kit that is tintable planned on mixing some black with it and spray it today... Turns out I am out of color.. Anyway here is the kit I got.. Could have gotten black but clear was free...

Hey Multiranger, I got a 92 Explore yesterday, and sence some cold weather is setting in and my wife hates for me to be in the cold for very long, I'm going to take a page from your play book, and polish the intake, I might not get it to look as sweet as yours, but who know what I can do.

as always, your truck is the nicest I have seen.

I just wonder if you can make it mirror like the rest of the truck :icon_bounceblue:
