Ever my sister's ex boyfriend had a 1990 ranger i knew what i wanted my first truck to be!! So 2 years later after completing drivers ed i started looking but not really finding anything in my area or it was to expensive! So while joking around with a family friend about buying his 1988 ranger for about $800 again was a complete joke!! He said yeah he was going to auto auction that night and was planning on buying a truck! He didnt get a truck that night so about a month and a half later his daughter texted me and said the truck was for sale. The valve covers did need to be replaced and he never got around to it so he said he would give me the covers and i could drive it home for 500!!!! So i am now a proud owner of 1988 ford ranger super cab body is in fairly good contition! 2.9 v-6 5speed with only a 105000 and many parts replaced at 88000 and 92000! Im still only 15 so i drive to school and back with a school perment (allows me to drive to and from school functions) but cant wait till feb when i can take her out cruzin! Since buying it i have done nothing but camo seat and steering wheel covers and installed cheap fog lights. But i am proud to say my first car is a ranger!

right on man good choice when i was 15 my dad gave me his bronco 2 i loved that thing, there pretty good trucks for a new driver.. truck looks great for 500 bucks

is that mudd flaps in the back? i would take that off lol

yeah they are mudflaps i guess i never paid any attention to them but they're not over sized of anything just the stock ones

Because mud flaps can be a real bummer in the mud I mean come on now with mud flaps you can not through roost and spray people with mud or coat the whole back of the vehicle with mud. They tend to keep things to clean :icon_rofl:

Welcome and good looking truck, I unfortunately did not own a ranger as my first vehicle, but it was the first one I ever drove.

A Ranger was my Second vehicle and lasted me 4 four years till my 92 ranger. I know you will enjoy it. Any real mods planed for it?

Clean 1st gens. are becoming harder and harder to find :icon_thumby:

Tell me about it! In my area mine and my brother's are probably the cleanest Gen I rangers.

Nice looking rig man! Congrats and joining the crew.

*sigh*...the memories that brings back :) I was given an 85 bronco 2 when I was 15 and that was my driver for 3 years before I beat it into the ground lol always wanted a 92 ranger after that, with a 4.0 and ext cab....took me a few more years, but I finally got one, and now I can't stop putting it back to gether!

I love my Ranger!!!

Real clean! And your lucky to be able to drive at 15, in NY you have to be 16 to get your permit/junior license, after 6 months you can get a junior license with full driving privileges until 9pm-5am. Without drivers ed, you can't get your full license until 18. I missed out on drivers ed last year (it was full) so I'm just going to wait until I'm 18.

I'd leave the flaps on. Keeps your paint nice and clean.
