My 2jzgte is here

oh my freaken gawd that thing rocks man i have always thought about doing a swap like that but props to you man, how does the cleanance look for mounting a rad?

Thanks man.The rad sits pretty thight so there will be some cutting and welding, so we can relocate the rad and intercooler more in front.

Dude thats insane. I cant wait to see pics of that monster. My buddy has a supra with the single turbo motor in it and its fast has hell, I cant imagine a 2jz!!!:icon_hornsup:

Hooooooooly dogshit. Thats one of the craziest things Ive ever seen. Imagine some punk in a 300zx twin turbo pulls up next to you like hes hot shit, and he gets killed by a humble looking ranger. That would be like getting butt****ed with a shotgun barrel.

Some updates, well the engine is in place we custom built new motor mount bracket so we could use the stock ranger supports. We had to cut the top of the engine cross member about an inch so that the engine can sit lower all that went easy but we hit a snag with the steering box because the this engine has a front sump oil pan and it was hitting the steering box and prevent us for aligning the engine. So we remove it fit the engine and now i can't use the steering box no more so we'll have to swap it over for a rack and pinion system. The ranger transm cross member had little mod's to it we just weld a small plate to it to extended a little to make new holes for the 2jz transm.Pic's are coming soon.

You can get the rear sump pans for those motors. Don't know where from though.

My mom just got back from Aruba, I thought everything there had to be like 1600cc's or less?

Frank
btw, loving the swap.

Martin i know about rear sump oil pan but it cost more $$$ than getting the rack and pinion, but on the other hand it's less fabrication though so will see.

Martin to my luck i manage to get a rear sump oil pan for a good price from a local guy here on the island,so i'll leave the steering box alone and go ahead swapping the oilpan.

It's a novel swap, I'll give you that. But I have to ask, why?

The 2jz is a heavy heavy motor. I've heard reports of close to 700lbs for a fully dressed twin turbo. In the states they had ~310 crank hp for the six speed, possibly less for the auto. Outside the states they came sith smalelr turbo's and made less than 300hp. They are also very long and tall motors.

An LS1 on the other hand weighs just over 450lbs fully dressed with cast manifolds and all, makes more power, and much more torque. It's also shorter in both length and height. Similar in width due to turbo, manifolds, and piping.

An LS1 AND T-56 6 speed will weigh well over 100lbs less than the 2jz alone. and its smaller size would make mounting much easier. Also, LS1's and T-56's are much cheaper than a 2jz+tranny. I've seen over $6k+ for a moderately high mileage pullout. You can get an LS1 pull out for $3-4k or less.

Just seems like a lot more money and a lot more work for little to no advantage. But what do i know, maybe L1's aren't attainable in the Caribbean, or maybe 2jz's are dirt cheap :icon_confused:

Regardless, good luck with the project. Looks like you know what your doing :icon_welder::icon_cheers:

The entertainment value of the pops and whistles that are evident when driving a turboed motor are enough to make many people go the blown route.
Don't know about the weight of the motor, never had a chance to weigh one but they didn't seem that heavy when we had to move them around.
The last one we put on the dyno pulled over five hundred at the wheels, not stock.

Lets make it simple,it's never bean done to a ranger also for my power needs with just upping the boost it will make more rwhp than the stock ls1 and i just love this engine. In the carribean we can import what ever engine there is available.

Now the engine sits nice inside the engine bay.The passenger side I-beam sits close to the oilpan but it won't hit it.:yahoo:
