My 1996 Ford Ranger 4x4 (TRS-2) Re-Build

Electrical tape does wonders to cover the "check engine" light...

SimpsonsQOTD on Twitter: "“But Dad, that light says 'check engine'.” “Uh-Oh. Tape must've fallen off.”… "

Evap codes....

If it's not leaning out and knocking....or getting 12 mpg....it's expense in time and money and aggravating.... My shop truck has a bad hose....back order. It's a freak looking one for flex fuel capable units...I will probably rig something up to get by because the cel does drive me..

Installed a new Pioneer stereo that my kids got me for Christmas.

And decided to go ahead and replace the rear speakers with some Rockford Fosgates since they're so easy to get to.

I used a Metra wire adapter to connect the speakers which was a waste of time. The plugs wouldn't fit the speaker connectors so I had to cut them off and crimp on different ones. At least the extra length made it easier to plug in and mount the speakers.

The only other problem was when I turned the stereo on there was no sound. The power plug for the factory stereo had a dark blue wire coming out of it. If you see that, you have a factory amplifier. I had to use the blue remote wire coming out of the Pioneer stereo and connect it to the blue wire that went to the factory stereo to turn the amp on. Once I made that connection everything worked.

Hopefully the radio display isn’t too bright. The aftermarket radio that came with the 1998 I had was blinding at night and the display was busy as hell. Definitely marketed towards the 20 year old crowd.

Put a mig weld lens over the display to dim it a bit for night use?

I sold the truck years ago. So, now it's the current owner's problem. If he did anything about it, I don't know. I never asked.

I bought a trailer yesterday to haul the Ranger to Attica and other offroad parks. I wasn't thrilled with using the uhaul trailers.

The deck length including the dovetail is 18-feet.

Looks nice, hows the ecoboost like it? I agree uhauls suck

The truck has plenty of towing power. The 45 minute ride home was a bit bouncy. Not sure if it was due to the deck being empty or what.

I'm going to do some upgrades to it. Not sure if I'll post them here or start a new thread.

Looks great. What engine does your Fun50 have?

Congrats on the trailer. You can now comfortably buy 16' lumber without paying for delivery.
You are gonna want to add a bunch of D rings to the edge of the deck. The more the merrier.

I have a 18' trailer with a steel deck, same style. Handy for a lot more then you expect. Only issue is now all your distant acquaintances think you are there personal tow truck....

This, It gets annoying. Or they ask to borrow it but they need to borrow your hitch too, and they’re not setup with a brake controller, and their dodge dakota can handle it because tHeY kNoW ThEiR tRuCk, etc... just better off hiding it somewhere and telling no one.
