Hey everyone. I am curious what everyone bring with them when they go wheeling or on a trip in their rangers. What are your must have tools that you bring with you?

a battery wrench. I keep one under the edge of my seat for rapid access

You can do quite a lot with a small adjustable wrench and a couple screw drivers.
wire strippers and some zip tires come in handy too.

I have a bag with a variety of stuff in it for when I think I’ll need to fix a car out and about

Vice grip, zip ties, pipe wrench, hammer....

Less stuff you take the more careful you are :)

Back in the day: a large tool kit and critical spare parts. Emergency drinking water and food; blankets and spare clothes; survival kit and firearm(s).

These days: a cell phone.

There was another long thread about this on here somewhere but I can't find it. Lots of good suggestions in there...hopefully someone will know where it's hiding and post a link.

What you bring is pretty dependent on what you know how to fix and what you've broken before... I have two spare driveshafts on my crawler, not many people do that but I've broken both in one day before. Spare hub/spindle/wheel bearings in my Explorer... tons of tools in both rigs. Couple of trucks just have some really basic stuff - leatherman, some wire, vise grips, hammer.

My suggestion is never wheel alone, inevitably a group effort will get everyone back home. Plenty of times I've broken and would have been screwed without others present and plenty of times I've had parts or tools on hand that got someone else fixed up who would have been screwed.

Yeah, tie wire for sure.
A neighbor used to laugh about my mom. He was coming in on the dirt route and saw mom under the back of the truck taking baling wire OFF of something. I cannot recall which two parts it was, maybe the rear bumper she was taking wire off of so she could use it to tie up the muffler

A sixteen inch length of 12 gauge copper wire will double up as a hose clamp in a pinch and takes up little space.

It depends. The further away from civilization you get, the more tools and spare parts you need to bring.

I would start with what Rusty recommended as a minimum. A mechanic's tool kit in a case would be better. Project Farm just happened to do a video on the subject not that long ago. If you aren't familiar with him, he's on youtube.

Add to that, some duct tape and baling wire, some wheel chocks, and something other than the factory jack. Floor jack or a bottle jack with a board for them to sit on to keep them from sinking into the ground and/or tipping over.

Here are 2 good threads on the subject.

A limited set of metric sockets and ratchet plus one of those do all screw drivers - Phillips, flat blade, etc.

I also carry a 1/4" nut driver and small diameter geared hose clamp to fit my modified fuel lines.

Hmmm yes. I used to carry an OBD analyzer to clear that pesky error code. Replacing that one bad fuel injector eliminated the need.
