That is correct Ryan,I want more TORQUE not horsepower,I gives a damn about the horsepower and agree with you about the pushrod deal, don't see needing custom pushrods but who knows.I sent an email to colt cams and they said they don't have any dyno numbers but have alot of happy customers with 2 nines.Great thing is I still have the complete top end including the beefier heads from my 87,yes I lucked out with the heads.I want to keep the stock 3.73's due to workin' an hour and a half from home.I asked the question due to someone on here with a b2 who installed a colt cam and loved it and just wanted to know if anyone else has expierence with it.
There might be a couple of other things that you could do to get more torque too. Do you have a '86/'87 throttle body? Ditching the fan & clutch for an electric fan might help a little bit too. I have seen that some people have done it around here, but never really hear about the results. I know that I put electric fans in a Jeep Wrangler which I had years ago and it made a difference with a 4.0, so I would imagine that it would have to give the little 2.9 a break. Not to mention the water pumps might actually last more than 50K miles. Another thing might be gasket matching the upper a lower intakes. I've had mine apart several times recently. I don't know why I didn't do anything with them then. I know that these are all little things, but I'm sure that they add up; especially with a cam. Be sure to follow the thread here about solid lifters to see how that works out. I know that it sounds crazy putting solid lifters in a somewhat modern motor but it does have adjustable valve lash and most importantly, problematic lifters which do not last the life of the motor.
