Has anyone modified the factory maf to gain more power on these cars? I know it has been done on mustangs and other cars, just want to hear from people on this forum. I took off the back plate off of my 95 2.3 liter's maf to let a little more air in, seems a little less torqueless then before and a little more power in the upper rpm's. I suppose its a trade off, in power but im about to put it back to normal.

Not quite sure what you mean by modifying the MAF....can you please elaborate?

We have cut the post off and blended it in.Really didn't see a big difference.I think we will try it again since we are now running a ram air system.

I switched from a Ranger MAF housing to a 4-cylinder Contour housing after I saw that my wifes housing was a slightly larger diamerter, but more importantly, allowed a hose-type connection on both ends so that I didnt need one of thoe square adapters that people buy (or make, if you look at the tech library). I saw people here swap a 3.8 housing onto a 4.0 to accomplish the same thing, but I also made certain that I carefully inserted my sensor assembly into the Contour housing so that my calibrations were all correct. No CEL and no stumbles or anything (I also cleaned it with MAF cleaner before and after assembly), and running fine for around 3,000 miles this way. Between this and the Flowmaster 40 and 2.5" exhaust, it sounds great and the response is HUGELY inmproved above 3,000RPM and a fair bit overall.
