Modern trucks....when is enough...enough?

I'd have too own out of warranty...

My dump trailer is 14k fully loaded. My car trailer is almost 10k fully loaded...

Id hook either one behind my 97 460 and not blink an eye.

I have never heard of anyone wishing for a 6.9...

6.9s one of the 2 diesels id own. Other is a 5.9 cummins

You do that. I'll take my built in exhaust brake, huge disc brakes, better trans, better mpgs, and air conditioned seats over that thing every day and twice on Sundays.

Since i am expereanced in towing trailers and realize that sometimes i might have to run a bit slower i wont miss the braking stuff.

Better trans/better MPG, sure, ill give you that, but the 20 or 30k difference in price will buy ALOT of E4ODs and even more gas.

A/C seats? Didnt realize we were talking chick cars here.

I appreciate comfort.

I have toys that I work on. I keep the dailies stock, and under warrantt ao I dont have to work on them.

I guess I can’t say that anymore...

A lot can be said for that. I have to shuffle between fixing my ranger and F-150 and it gets old.

Just fixed the ignition on the Ranger so now I can fix the exhaust on the ‘150. Get that and the back window resealed and then the Ranger gets powertrain upgrades.

Problem is with a truck payment the Ranger gets no love.

You can’t beat a 7.3l powerstroke with a stick.... plus it’s not finicky, it will burn any old oil crap that you can filter to 10 microns. All diesel used by ford after that are overly complicated and failure prone

Its loud. It rides like ass

Vc connectors.
Glow plugs
Glow olug relays
Cps failures
Injectors cost a fortune and fail at high miles
Unit bearings
Plastic inner coolers that crack

Dont act like the 7.3 is immune to issues

Both my 6.4s were with out issues until I turned up the power. I know tons of people with 6.7s with no issues at all.

Perpetually leak oil...

Still a darn good engine, if I was to get a 250/350 I would be tempted to go that route if they all didn’t have half a million miles for $20k. And I even like the rattle.

A later 6.0 is supposed to be pretty good too.

I kinda like my gas engines more for what I do though.

They are solid, but some people like to act like they were completely without fault.

Carry a CPS in the glove box, my OBS did not have unit bearings, my intercooler was all aluminum.... injector failures are more likely under valve cover wiring harness, louder the better, oil leak issues have since been fixed, and injector service is still cheaper that head gasket failures on the 6.0 and injector pump failures on the 6.7 ..... due to what? 2 oz of water?

I'm not defending the 6.0... That said mine had 180k with no hg issues... But mine was rare.

6.7 fuel pumps are people who don't maintain their rig. Plain and simple.

06-07 6.0's were supposed to be pretty good, pretty cheap now because everyone is terrified of the engine because of the earlier ones.

Biggest reason i own a big gasser is you can rebuild the damn thing for what a turbo on a diesel costs with installation.
