I appreciate the replies on my first post...thanks for the info...well i bought the '93 Ranger today, my first Ford :fie:...It already has the Mile Marker manual hub conversions, are these as good as the Warn's? Is there any advantage to one or the other? I noticed that Warn sells a heavy duty version (actually made for Jeeps?) but I'm not sure if I need that...I plan on running stock size tires...I'll take them apart once I get the truck home, is there anything that wears on them that i should look for? I need to fill in my signature, its a 93 ranger std cab, short box, 4 wd, 5 speed, 4.0, thanks in advance for your replies.

I run Mile Markers on a stock B2 and have not had a single issue with them. Others who wheel hard, seem to break them, but then again they break the "regular" warns too. I would say they are comparable to the warns. However, the warn hubs for the jeeps are superior.

even if the m.m. hubs aint as strong as the warn, what would you rather repair (expecially outside in bad weather) hubs or u-joints? id rather have to change out a hub myself. ive had my m.m. hubs about a year now, stock tires, no troubles.

I have M.M. hubs on my ranger which I wheel, and Warns on my explorer which I don't wheel (bought it that way). I've done some rather hard wheelin with them and they've held up for months. I will swap them someday but the Mile Markers seem tough enough.
You've allready got 'em, spend your money on sometnin else.

That sounds like a good idea initially... except that the strength disparity between the hub and the axleshaft is so great (especially if you're running Spicer 760s with the full circlip mod), it tends to become an annoyance to keep breaking a hub every time you go out wheeling (and then dealing with returning them, etc. etc.).
A shaft may take longer to replace, but it'll be much less frequent.

That said, if you're running stock-size tires, it's not real likely you'll break a "regular" manual hub (especially if you're also running an open differential).

I think i'll just stick with the M.M's for now, see how they hold up. thanks for the input guys...

For stock applications they should be fine. When you start running larger tires with a locked axle is when problems arise.
Use to blow up the none Jeep warns every once and awhile and it was an annoyance. I also had troubles with them not fully engaging in the cold. One day while in the woods one of my warns started to act up so instead of taking it apart and trying to fix it I opted to through on my never used new out of the box mile marker spare. After 10 mins of wheelin, boom while on a hill climb. 10 mins of use and I blew the hell out of it.

My Pile Markers stripped the inner splines out--not at the shaft end but inside it. I think they were made of chalk. I didn't even get a chance to break the housing.

I went to the heavy Warns-37780 after that. The standard Warns like spit their housings at innocent passers-by. I damaged a 37780 internally but it just won't unlock anymore. I keep it for a spare. It happened when my wheel fell off one time.

I will never waste my money on another Mile Marker hub .
Altho the warranty has covered then each time , I have stripped the internals from 3 sets .
I roll on 31's . and each winter since I installed them , (3) I have broken the right side hub .
This last summer , in the need to back up a hill in loose gravel ,dry in 4 hi , bang .
