i going to get starting on building a mild 302...nothing to fancy...thinking around 225-230 h.p

the black is out of a 1981 f-150 and i had it swapped in an other ranger...going to have a c5 with a c4 bell housing.....any ideas

Swap on gtp heads, run a reasonable cam and free flowing headers and intake, and you should be at least in the power range you want.

what are we looking at with out a cam...nice intake and carb...with headers and NO cats :)

Have you thought about selling what you have and just getting an HO with headers? I think this would be the cheapest way to do it, but that's just my opinion..

A lot have just gotten a low mileage Explorer motor and converted it to the Mustang wiring/computer systems. Good low torque, fits good. Ought fit your bill, is that HP you want at the crank or rwhp? Way too many way of going about it. Have to balance you needs, pocket book and end results.

crank is fine...just want to replace the 2.8 in the 84 and want to make it a little more fun to drive

Here's what I have in mine: roller short block from a 93 E150 van, F4TE roller cam from a 94-97 F150 (also used in the same years E series vans, & 96-2001 Explorer motor) Home ported E7TE heads (these are about the equal to the iron GT40 heads)Crane Energizer 1.7 pedestal mount roller rockers, Ford Racing A321 intake (also equal to the Performer RPM, & Weiand Stealth) Topped with a Holley 570 Street Avenger carb, headers are Shelby Tri-Y's. Runs great, smooth idle, pulls from idle to 6000, great mileage (15-18 w/o overdrive)Starts and idles with a single prime shot from the carb without a choke down to 20*F. Burns the 275/60's down on demand with a traction loc 3.73 rear.
