Found a good bit of metal shavings on the drain plug. 81,000 original miles on the 5 speed manual transmission. Shifts fine. Not noisy. No grinding at all. Normal amount of shavings or is something going wrong? See pics.

I can't believe that's normal, but if you can't find anything wrong with the performance I'd run it and not worry.

In a manual trans with no obvious symptoms, the most likely culprit I can think of for that amount of steel is something like occasional/repeated grinding shifting into reverse. Don't know how long you've owned the truck but at any rate, as SenorNoob said, with no symptoms, there's no point in worrying about it, just change the fluid on schedule and keep an eye on it.
