Maverick is weird

The Ram 2500 i want would have a 6.5' box but that is neither here nor there.

Ram has been doing it for over 10 years, it seems to work well.

I have ordered more spring shackles (countless) than coil springs (none)

Mine has the 6.5 box, and maybe twice I've wished I had more bed. Generally if it's something I need that's bigger I'd just take the trailer anyway

Solid axle/leaf spring has less moving parts and less wear parts then an IRS system giving it the durabilty advantage.

If IRS starts going into 1/2 tons trucks are done. Its bad enough ram uses coils on1/2 and 3/4 tons.

so my ram isn't a truck because it has a coil spring in the rear? :p i love the coils vs the leafs, tows much better, especially heavy. are you one of those folks that leafs perform better offroad too?

Depends on what youre doing offroad. But leafs are the winners for load carrying. Ive seen numerous newer rams going down the road squatting to the ground with hardly anything on them. But to each their own.

Wait ...

You mean to say that an improperly loaded truck squats in the back?

Golly. Never saw that coming.

My F-150 is 6.5' and has served me well for 16.5 years. My slide in camper is built for my 7' ranger bed but fits in a 6.5 bed great with the tailgate down.

If you met one at night you wouldnt be able to say that...

Tis hay hauling season... anything goes.

I have my 2006 Ram 1500 hauling my old 12 camper. Its a little scary going around corners in the snow and ice...
But with the airbags full its not bad going in a straight line.

Buy a sedan and a 4x6 trailer then. Instead of driving a stake further into the heart of the truck market.

I only buy Fords... Ford doesn’t make sedans anymore... now what should I do?

Oh great decider of what everyone else should drive, please help me choose....
I need a vehicle to tow my trailer occasionally. (4000lbs Max.)
I have a family, so I need interior room for 3 plus luggage for trips.
I load crap into the bed of my truck once a week. (Not always big, but it could be a tire, an engine, an appliance, etc... stuff I won’t be putting inside a vehicle.)
I like to go camping once in a while and own a roof top tent... the vehicle must be able to accommodate that.
I work for the government and get called in to fix plow trucks in the snow. I have 30 minutes from the time I get the call until I have to punch in. it absolutely must be 4x4 or AWD (there’s no exceptions here.)
It must ride nice for my commute, be smooth in triple digit highway cruising, and be ok with some light offroad.
@rusty ol ranger ... what vehicle do you think I should have.

No reason to cruiseing triple digits. Thats crazy.

Ext cab F150 with an 8ftbox. Done.

Transit van.

You don't need a box you already said you have a trailer.

4WD is for old ladies. Learn to drive in it or get out of it.

:p

Lol go stir somewhere else you scoundrel.

There's probably more people that live on the 14th floor of their building in downtown Manhattan than live in my whole county... those people aren't going to want to deal with the process of having to fold up a trailer and elevator it up and through the hallway etc. etc.

Um... If you live in downtown Manhattan on the 14th floor of any building there:unsure:, you're going to just pay someone to deliver and install your home improvement project because you've got the money. :stirthepot: :ROFLMAO:

A $82,000, 550 Horsepower AWD Ford Fiesta - FordMuscle
It even has enough HP to pull your trailer, gets good MPGs and you can put the mother-in-law on the roof rack. LOL

Then you'll want to get off the Ford bandwagon and ask @Blmpkn when he's going to be done with that Caprice. :headbang:

Crazy is being stuck in the 70’s... both the decade and the speed.

Why should I have an 8’ bed, to do 6.5’ bed stuff? In my case, that extra 1.5’ would be better served as interior space.
Actually don’t answer that... I really don’t care. Things will never go back to the way they were in the 70’s, get over it. Sorry to burst your little bubble, but a truck doesn’t need to be a f250 or bigger to have a purpose or be called a truck.

We’re looking to pick up a few dozen of the for security. They need a little truck to carry traffic cones, temporary signs, etc. They put 25k a year on trucks... the Maverick should be perfect for them.
