so i wanted to got to mass air cause im goin to put a cam, ported heads, headers, ignition etc.. and i was reading that mass air conversion and it said that the 1990 bronco 2 with mass air is only good with 14lb injectors, and that the 5.0 mass air is good for 19lb injectors. since i already picked up a 90 B2 mass air at the swap meet can i get away with using it or what will it get enough fuel.

the stock MAF and injectors should handle it just fine.

After you do all the porting and cam and stuff I think you can fine tune it with a good fuel pressure regulator, slightly better injectors, etc. You will need a air fuel gauge to know which way to adjust it.

I ran 19lbs in mine, but had to use an IST Air Adjuster to fool the computer to get it to run right. Even then I was rich at idle. Need to make sure fuel pressure is in spec so that the fuel atomizes correctly out of the injectors. I eventually ended up running the stock 14lbs. My engine was cammed with .435" intake / .450" exhaust lift @ 1.43:1 rocker ratio 111 LDA.

awesome guys thanks for the help yea i get what ur sayin on the air controller from ist. im in the process of getting the sven pruetts book. also hows that cam any problems

Talk with a cam grinder, either way I am sure they'll need to do a custom grind. They'll be able to suggest a cam profile that will work well with whatever else you have planned. Be prepared for lots of questions. You'll probably be looking at some valve train upgrades as well, specifically valve springs and I would recommend longer push rods for a base circle cam to keep the valve geometry right (if they go that route), even through the rocker arms are adjustable.

Mine was a pretty smooth idle, not too aggressive, definitely moved the power band up. It did pretty well, smoked a 4.6L T-bird on take off, but he would have killed me on top speed. Pretty low 7 sec 0-60 (6.9 that a passenger stop watched :)). Lost horribly to this same car in a '85 Grand Prix with a 262ci V8 Monza engine LOL. I think I topped out at 95mph at 5,500RPM with a TH350.

The only thing I really don't like about Sven Pruett's book is all of the companies don't manufacturer what's in there anymore or they're simply out of business already. It's also baised towards his 2.8L project. There is some good info in it though, but I don't know if it's worth the trouble.

If I had to to do it again, I would seriously consider forced induction. I was close to pulling my heads for reworking and throwing on a M90 super charger (even considered forged pistons), but compared costs/reliability/performance/aftermarket support - V8 made more sense. :D
