Ok, so I'm wrapping up my M5OD swap. The truck is a 91 Ranger 2wd, the A4LD smoked itself, so I decided to swap the an M5OD. The problem is, while trying to install the driveshaft 40 times before realizing it wasn't going to work, I noticed the output shafts are different sizes.
With a pair of calipers, the A4LD shaft measured 1.075" OD and the M5OD shaft measured 1.175" (roughly) OD. WTF? The trans was out of an early 90's 2wd explorer. Anybody know what's going on here?
